Hey, lets be honest. If you guys don't like us, then stop taking our freaking money! For real!!! We help the world too much to have you guys say we should mind our own business. If we don't stop terrorism, who will? You think it will die out and we will have peace? I say, we should only help those who support the war on terror. If you don't support the war, then I hope you government will help you when disaster strikes your country. The US is number one, deal with it or write your local politician and tell them to stop accept aid from the US. Actually do something instead of complaining about us. Break all ties, go on with your lives and save my tax dollars for someone who is worth the time...

So you feel that the US should completely drop out of the world economy just because a vast majority of the rest of the world never supported the "war on terror" in the first place? This whole Nationalist petulance will not fly very far in today's world.
There's a lot more to the anti-US terrorism than meets the eye, and undoubtedly the unsupportive countries can only look at us and go "You know...it's your problem, not ours, and you started it way back in the 60's and 70's." Being an ally during WWII is one thing, but fighting against an enemy that we helped train and instate into power a few decades ago is something completely different.
The tax money abroad also really depends on the people we've voted into power. They control and handle who gets what with our tax dollars. So if you happen to not like where it is going, it's your job to vote out your House Reps and Senators, not the rest of the world.

No I'm talking about foreign aid. Not mixing economies. It is to a countries benefit and the United States benefit to trade. I'm talking about helping the countries feed their people, stuff like that. If they don't like us, then we don't have to feed them.Marconius wrote:

your narrow minded.
dont forget there is only one planet and we all live on it. america can afford it so why not help.

Uhhhh.... You know, the same reason they don't support the war on terror is the reason they need foreign aid.
'WTF? You want me to fight terrorists in some country that don't give a rat's ass about us? News flash! We don't have enough food for lunch!'

Um...help countries that don't like us? (To be honest we don't do too much of that, but we do some in the name of development.) Are you honestly suggesting that we should help countries that don't like us because we can afford to? I don't care how expansive you think your mind is, that is stupid.the_heart_attack wrote:

Sorry, but it is taxpayer money and I think giving it to hostile states is pissing it away. Personally, I think if a state's leader comes out and criticizes the US or its allies in an openly hostile way (which I hasten to add is distinct from having an honest to goodness difference of opinion one is willing to discuss - We are talking about the Castros of the world, not the Chiracs) the flow of $ should come to a screeching halt.
Just like Uncle Sam just did with the Universities here: Don't shit on me and then ask why I stopped giving you money.

That's a good point. It's important to define 'countries that don't like you'.

well most people in iraq dont seem to like america but you guys are hell bent on helping them....or yourselves, to oil.
i cant remember which one.
i cant remember which one.
As I said, there are a few exceptions. This is mostly to do with the fact that since we went in and fucked it up, we can't leave until it is fixed; I'd happily support leaving if it didn't mean screwing up the entire middle east for the forseeable future. In any case, it is about responsibility for one's actions now, and not helping because 'we can afford to'. If we embraced a policiy that ridiculous, it would soon be self-invalidating.the_heart_attack wrote:

Australia has one or two troops there as well, if I'm not mistaken.
Don't be obtuse...or if you want to insist on it (as you seem to), please back it up with a fact or two.the_heart_attack wrote:

By a LONG LONG way.
However, it's not hard to win when you're opponent has SERIOUS emotional issues.

I'd rather make our country or army better, than help someone who doesn't like my country. I'm not narrow minded, thats just being real. What country are you from? Would you help a country that hates you?the_heart_attack wrote:

I say lets those idiots riot and then starve. Who needs them, people who riot deserve to die. "Help, help, I'm being repressed!" Screw that. Riot = stupid people...cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

Anyone that helps in the war, deserves US aid, support, you name it... Australia is a pretty peaceful country as far as I know, they probably don't have a large army. So being allies with the US is a great idea for them. And being the open minded country that we are, if you are nice to us, we will be nice to you. It's really that simple... If you want to come to our country, please come, but don't blow up our freaking people with a car bomb! Seems like common sense... The terrorists take advantage of the American way of life, but I still like freedom and I love this country.the_heart_attack wrote:

A country that "doesn't like you" is one who citizens parade around the streets buring American flags or bitching how the US rapes them in trading... You know what? If a country like Mexico was the number one economy, you don't think they would be taking advantage of their trade powers? I mean, come on!!! Everyone would do it! How can anyone complain about that! The US has to take charge and run this world... You can't rely on the UN to do so, they are so freaking corrupt its rediculous... Food for Oil anyone???Spark wrote:

This is a troubling view.
The UN, right now, is a heap of shit, I agree. But it sure beats the hell out of one country ruling the world.
Some call that an 'Empire'. Others call it a 'World Dictatorship'.
The main problem with the UN, at this point, is that it is hardly the 'United Nations'.
In essence, there's a vote each for the WWII winners, and 1 vote in total for everyone else. So China has about the same amount of say as Monaco.
Finally, are you Christian? I'll go on after you answer.

No I'm not Christian, I don't really practice a religion. I don't mean the US ruling the entire world, we would never do that. Take Iraq for an example, we go in there and clean things up (as much as we can) and then give the country to the Iraqis... The UN is totally a joke, every country that recieved bribes with the Oil for Food scandal should be banned from the UN. Even the US if they were involved. But mostly the French people, they were the worst... The US for being as powerful as it is, is a very nice and understanding country. We could smash Iraq into a dead roach, but we don't. Our President is fight a politically correct war (which is crap, we should just flatten the entire country and kill all the terrorists) we are trying our best to be fair to the Iraqi people. I just feel like people don't give the US enough credit for the good it does to the world. What religion are you?Spark wrote:

We should keep helping even if they never pay us back, its our responsibility as world leaders.
I know I have more than enough & I live paycheck to paycheck, its good karma anyways.
I would like to think if the tables were reversed that everyone would help us.

Hey, I'm not saying they should pay us back. I'm simply saying that if they want our money, they should show a little respect and treat us nicely. Americans wouldn't be taking other countires money and then say we hate that country... Thats all. I fully support giving aid to other countries, as long as they like us. If they don't, then they can go and get welfare from someone else.TrollmeaT wrote:

If you could see all the bad we do as well you might not think that because we certainly do not respect others & treat them nicely, we just pretend too.
I would like to keep more money at home & work on domestic issues more but yeah right like that will happen.

We should stop helping other countries because 50 years later they will become like Europe and stab us in the back. We should only help if the country is going to pay us back.
You kick ass. Now he is a good American.Renegade2k9 wrote:
