Be it time or money.

I was fortunate to be able to deliver presents today on behalf of people in prison. Basically a church collected donations for presents, and gathered personal notes from the parents incarcerated. I offered to deliver the stuff and you know, it felt great.

Many of us are hurting financially. One family had nothing under their tree at all. There are so many people in need. Last year we provided one needy family with an entire christmas diner. This year the group we are involved with, we are all a little broke, so that didn't happen.

Give what you can and donate some of your time.

We have scaled back greatly this year as well. My work is stable as can be, but we thought we could teach our Kids another lesson about caring for those with a lot higher need than our own. Each kid is getting less than $20 dollars total in gifts this year (yes still much more than a lot of people). My 8 year old has been waiting for an MP3 player for over a year now. She gave it up though. We are sending what we normally would spend on them and each other to an orphanage we are afiliated with in India. I don't want to hear 1 word about not spending it here.

I highly encourage anybody to take what little they do have and realize there are many more who have much less and share it with them. No better way to spend Christmas, or any time of the year, than helping someone in need.

Although I did get one ps2 and a gameboy plus food and shelter. So I guess its all good.

Donating does feel good, whether it's blood or money or time. I've donating blood countless times and it always feels good. Plus I've donated money to a couple places, including one that I hold very dear to my heart Giving feels great. I used to wonder why people spent so much time volunteering and basically doing a full-time job for free, but it's a great feeling indeed.

I donate $20 a month to my local ASPCA...gonna give an extra $50 this Christmas time. Especially now that it's getting extremely cold and they need all the money they can get.

We are helping out a family with a single father a 1 year old and a 12 year old, filling the Christmas list of the kids.

About 10 years ago I played Santa for a friend of mine who came down with a brain tumor, we worked it out where the kids caught Santa putting presents under the tree when they got home from Midnight Mass. It was his last Christmas and probably the most memorable of my life.

Also try to give directly to the those in need. There are alot of bullshit charities out there that keep the majority of your donation for themselves. To compensate for administration costs and shit. Basically, paying people to work for charities. I do not think there is anything wrong with getting paid for your efforts, but it is decieving when you offer up 100 bucks for a specific cause and only 25 dollars gets put to that use.

Donates monthly to "Doctors without borders" and have sent some $ for xmas to the Salvation army & City Church Mission that feeds less fortunate members of society regardless of faith ...

The kids will receive their normal amount of xmas presents ... not extravagant but around $150 worth each (not a very large amount here atleast)

My experience of charities has been pretty poor, from the inside and outside.
My sister is treasurer (pro bono) of an Oxfam connected charity and she wouldn't give them so much as a cent.

Give of your time, give money directly where its useful, otherwise be very careful who you give to.

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. I've been a very large supporter of them since about 2006 now, but have been donating since January of this year. They're nothing like PETA though, don't worry - they work with police and have their own officers. They're not a radical activist group like PETA. They're a worthy cause to support and they take in all different kinds of abused or homeless pets.

It's becoming tradition for me as well...I hope once I get a better paying job this coming year that I'll be able to donate another $20 a month to a separate organization. St. Jude's most likely.

I work in the kitchen at the shelter a few days each month. I don't work the kitchen around Thanksgiving or Xmas because there are so many volunteers during that time.

So, if you enjoyed holiday charity - try if possible - to add in a few more during different times of the year.
