I think this is the whole problem isn't it lowing - where we see 'black community' and understand that a 'community' is not limited by race, you see 'black community' and think 'black only'.

There is a difference.

Your 'community' is NOT defined by your race.

It IS defined by the people you choose to associate with - often due to some common interest or other.

I think Lowing has been trying to get people to see the double standard that exists.  If I, as a "white" person were to design a web browser targeted at Whites, I would be ridiculed and labeled as a rascist.  You all know this is true.  If I did the same thing for the Irish American's, I would probably not be labeled a racist.  The difference is simply that by designing a web browser, or anything, targeted at such a broad group as blacks, is exactly the same as me designing one for whites.  The problem is one is labled a racist, and the other is not.  To answer all those saying that they want an example, do you really think someone besides wing-nuts are going to design and market something like that?

The reason I was asking Scorpion0x17  to define black culture was to prove a point that there is no real black culture.  There is inner city culture, Ivory Coast culture, southern culture, and even Minnesota culture.  To say something is for the black culture is really quite ignorant and seperatist.

I disagree, and think the reason that it is different is simply down to the fact that blacks are a minority. It would also be fine to have a Spanish browser or Irish browser.

It's easier to target a broad group of blacks, Spanish, Irish, etc. It isn't easy to target a broad group of whites without segregation, due to the sheer numbers who identify themselves with white culture.

This is why you don't have a WhiteDove browser.

This is why you have black radio, tv channels and web browsers and for some reason there are people who can't accept that (not targeting you with this comment).

I do no think there is a white culture, nor a black culture.  I cannot define white culture any more than anyone here can define black culture.  This is simply because neither one exists.  Therefore, in my mind, it is a double standard to be ok with someone developing a black targeted thing, but not ok with a white targeted thing.  Neither one is right.
