Whenever I park somewhere I think I might get towed. (Not that I'm lazy, I just literally can't find anywhere else to park). I put my truck into 4 wheel drive so that all wheels are locked, crank the steering to one side, lock my steering column, but on my club, and then I usually try and park close to a wall or a curb so that the tow truck driver can't get a dolley underneath my wheels.
I may still get a ticket, but its a hell of a lot better then paying impound and towing fees.
