New Rank without Patch?

hi there,

i have a little more than 3000 points. do i have to upgrade to get the new rank? i am still lance corporal instead of seargent.

By the way, it seems you advance one rank at a time. I scored 2 points and got promoted one rank. A few minutes later when scoring a second time, I was promoted one more rank. (With 7000 points, I had multiple ranks coming my way.)
