Ahh, okay. Just checking. I don't quite understand the entire issue, as whenever there's ordinance involved, the stuff that doesn't blow up is a problem. And I don't know if a larger percentage of cluster munitions fail compared to: grenades, daisy cutters, etc etc etc

MRLS. Artillery. Stuff like that.
Apparently in non high-tech cluster bombs substantial number of little bomblets dont explode. I wouldn't be surprised if it was by design in some cluster bombs. For years after the war (in Bosnia) we had problems with all kinds of unexploded ordinances.Pug wrote:

But normal land mines are usually placed in minefields and locations of most of the mine fields were known or were eventually discovered post war. I remember riding in the car and seeing "mines" signs just by the road and big areas cordoned off with red or yellow tape like a crime scene.
The various (normal) artillery or tank unexploded shells were scattered everywhere but they are usually more visible due to their size. Also they are robust and not that easily activated. People discover them by stepping on them, hitting them with a shovel etc and they dont explode.
But the bombs from a cluster bomb were also found everywhere and not just at locations where the lines were. Some were designed to be attractive to children some were not. They are small and easily activated. They can become camouflaged in only a few days. Couple of leaves and some dirt and they cant be seen any more. Thats why they are so deadly to civilians.
Yes. But not because of UXO's.
