A semi proper one at a uni that my mate goes to. So not just a few mates bringing computers round to play UT2004.
The first half an hour was good (everyone connected their computers to the Network and we all started leaching stuff off eachother). I felt like a kid in a buffet choosing what stuff to grab. Then me and my mate (who convinced me to go despite the fact that we did no gaming, because there is 'lots of free stuff') went and saw a movie, leaving our friends with strict instructions to make sure our stuff wasn't stolen. (Of course we password locked our computers before we left, seeing as last time my mate didn't he came back and found about 40Gb of porn on there, all selected by another friend).
Came back at midnight, faffed about for about 11 hours playing some L4D, sleeping, and watching movies.
The last half hour was awesome. Just asa we were packing our stuff up they started a COD4 match. Seeing this, I commandeered my friend's computer and promised him that I'd come first, broke out the tube (it was fail mode... I mean hardcore), topped the server two rounds in a row. It was about the time that the people sitting about 4 feet from me started a vote kick that my friend went to get the car (in fairness they'd kicked someone the round before for using a G3, so I'm putting it down to them being whiny).
So yeah, my LAN experience was that the first half an hour was awesome, the last half an hour was awesome, but the interceding 16 hours were boring.
