Thanks for the heads-up! Few days to go to getting paid, I´m so getting this then!DefCon-17 wrote:
Holy fuck I already have 26 hours of L4D.It's still fun (usually) playing with people you don't know online. There aren't many retards. If anything, they'll be new players getting used to L4D or FPS's in general. (In which case they get bashed by some pathetic little creature who spends his waking hours playing videogames)Sisco10 wrote:
But are there decent people running around in the lobby, cause most internet goons are retardedPoseidon wrote:
Of course...you can always find other people (either here or through server/lobby searching).
At least I can count on the goons running around here, that´s true
Too bad I gotta wait at least another week for my payment before I can buy it. This month´s been too expensive. It sounds like it´s a really fun game to play.
Let's put it this way:
Playing with random people, the game gets 8.5/10.
Playing with people you know personally: 9.9/10 (No game is perfect.)
If you just do one runthrough of all the campaigns on singleplayer, it'll probably take you 6 hours.sportsman11-2cool4u wrote:
Me and a friend were playing the demo (360) and it's really cool! I'm thinking of getting it with my birthday money and his is coming up soon, and we'll probably get more people to get it anyways. Anyways I was wondering if it's really worth it, like I see where it could get boring killing zombies and such..Is multiplayer fun (I think it's versus or something)? But anyways it looks cool but it the whole singleplayer short or is it more lenghty?
Thanks.
No problem.Sisco10 wrote:

+1 to you sir!
LAN is fucking useless. Everyone still needs an internet connection to be logged into Steam or it won't work. Which in my opinion completely negates the purpose of LAN. Sure you don't have to worry about eating up bandwidth, but the only time I've ever LAN'd a game was because we didn't have internet.Sisco10 wrote:
I got another question. Is it playable over lan? And do bots/ai take the role of missing players?
Thanks, that sounds good. Is it playable with AI teammates? Cause theres no sense in doing so if they run around getting chewed after 2 mins.DefCon-17 wrote:
I think it is, but you'll need one copy for each person.
AI takes over if a player leaves, and in Campaign (4 people VS all bots) you get the option to "Take a break", which temporarily lets AI take over your character. You can't do that in VS though, and if an Infected player leaves, no AI replaces him. Only the Survivors get AI replacement.
Hm, typical steam. But not that big a deal. I´m going home to germany over the holidays (living in vienna right now) so my best buddy and I are going to play via lan. He got internet anyway so no worries.OmniDeath wrote:

After you have installed/updated the game, you don't need any internet connection. Care to tell what you were having problems with because you should be able to get a L4D game going over a LAN easily.OmniDeath wrote:

It seems like the AI are either really good, or completely terrible. If you keep moving, they tend to stick together, but if you're somewhere where you have to defend against waves of Infected, they tend to wander about, making it hard to properly defend.Sisco10 wrote:

I've also had times where I was pinned down by a Hunter, and my AI teammate walks backwards into me, but does absolutely nothing to knock the Hunter off of me.
But of course, they have AI aim, and never friendly fire.
They can be smart too though.
If you jump from one platform to another, they tend to follow you, and they usually close doors behind them.
My friend caught the bridge to the boat on fire and it was a bitch to get to the boat.Poseidon wrote:
lol, I finished the Death Toll campaign with m3thod

I hate that final run to the boat
We went there when the zombies slowed down for a second, right after we took down the tank. It was pretty defendable with molotovs and pipe bombs, definitely a lot safer than the house.Poseidon wrote:

You'd be surprised. They don't miss hunters mid-pounce and sometimes get in touch with their aimbot side. In general though they're made to line up their shots like a human and they stick together to keep hunters/smokers off you so it's not all useless.DefCon-17 wrote:
My god, bots are worthless in Versus.
