The $44 billion B-2 bomber has radar that cannot distinguish a raincloud from a mountainside, has not passed most of its basic tests and may not be nearly as stealthy as advertised, according to a draft report by the General Accounting Office, the independent auditing agency of Congress.

I believe it's a deep-rooted fear of becoming obsolete. Blame it on the world wars.

Read yet another article last night about the threat situation and for the 3 most likely scenarios (not listed of course) only the JSF can deliever what is expected of the 4 alternatives ... 1.JSF 2.JAS Gripen 3.Eurofighter and 4.A heavily upgraded F16

So the F16 has been considered in the process when the choice was made and found inadequate and people with a slightly higher paygrade and indebt knowledge about this than the two of us have most probably made the correct decission Kmarion.

So we have bought them and there is nothing you nor I can do about it Kmarion, i agree with it - you don't so let's leave it with that ... it is an investment for the future and hopefully an equally good one as when we aquired the F16s, they were equally groundbreaking then as the F35 is today.

Yeah...I'd say that's a bit dated.

I think 20 or so B-2's is a few too many though, considering their costs. The money could've been better spent elsewhere.

B2's aren't that greatly used and only operates from one base, not that smart tbh. There should be more B2 bases tbh.
