I'm happy enough with strict gun controls thank you very much.
I'm keeping my guns.
So if Obama (like all right wingers seem to suspect) makes gun ownership illegal, would you shoot any government agents that tried to take them off you? I'm curious how many gun owners actually would when it came down to it.Stingray24 wrote:

He would tell other people to do it behind the governments back.ghettoperson wrote:

In Australia, and think guns should stay illegal/highly regulated.
It works fine right now, why change it?

if someone comes to take a firearm that i own legally, they have a serious shit storm coming for them.
i will not be disarmed in my own country while there are criminals that can hurt me with firearms.
but none of that matters anyway. i doubt anyone could find the firearms in my house, much less find them when i start caching them out of fear of them being taken.

Ok... end of discussion for Americans.jord wrote:

We have the right to bear arms, but I guess a lot of other countries have less legal protection for gun ownership (if there is any at all in certain countries).
If Britain, for example, wants to ban gun ownership (including rifles, since handguns are already banned, right?) for its own people, that's up for discussion. You really can't ban gun ownership in America without defying the Constitution. Of course, I guess you could make a Constitutional Amendment.
yes it is.JoshP wrote:

That has to be the most stupidest thing I have seen you say on this forum.Turquoise wrote:

...and why is that? I was referring to gun rights here. If people want to ban guns in other countries, that's fine. You can't do it here.12/f/taiwan wrote:

Gun ownership is already 99.9% banned - basically farmers can shoot foxes and shit that are killing sheep, you can go clay pigeon shooting (possibly not entirely sure), and you need a license for both of those. And ofc the army/police etc get guns.Turquoise wrote:

You can own rifles up to .22 and shotguns.
Anyway, why would it not be up for discussion for Americans. It's only a constitution. If enough people vote for it you can remove it. A book of laws doesn't have some higher power that you must all obey, actually debate the point of some of the stuff in it and not treat it as gospel...

i love when that is used in a debate....JoshP wrote:

thats almost as good as your "statistics"
You're implying because it is the 2nd Amendment that the discussion should end and we[Americans] should all move along with our lives.Turquoise wrote:

You really should though. Do you honestly think that a gun ban would ever be passed nationally here? I mean, you can discuss it if you want to, but the context is rather farcical. Guns, for better or worse, are an integral part of our culture.12/f/taiwan wrote:

Hiding them isn't very adventurous of you Parker! Your forefathers would be ashamed! You're supposed to march to Washington and kill anyone that stands before you.Parker wrote:

Yeah, it is only an Ammendment. You can change ANY of them. After all, if you change the 2nd Ammendment, what is to keep you from changing the 4th Ammendment (for the greater good, of course)? Then, you can always change the 1st Ammendment (to make exceptions for hate speech...)jord wrote:

It is a slippery slope.
then we can do away with soldiers having to stay in my house too.imortal wrote:

If agents ever show up to confiscate my weapons I already sold all of them in perfectly legal private transactions.
And I don't think the democrats are that stupid. The last AWB helped them lose control of congress in 1994. They may decide to shoot themselves in the foot but I doubt it.
Most of this gun banning talk is drummed up by the firearms manufacturers to boost sales. There is currently a run on "assault" rifles. Then the companies report these horrible backorders to make people even more insane. conservative style capitalism.
They wouldn't find anything. Stashing elsewhere til the agents leave ftw.ghettoperson wrote:
