2012 comes first.
2025? I don't think that far ahead.
But imagine how awesome the games would be
I'm gonna be getting me a few beers for that special night in 2012! Sit back with a few brewskies, watch the Northern lights and observe as the world crumbles!ATG wrote:

the world in 2025.........probably still sucks tbh
Even if there is no merit to the rumors about 2012 there will be a lot of people freaking out about it, and you can't argue that the world is not going to hell in a hand basket.
As far as where America will be, it's hard to say.
This makes an interesting read as to how that hawks plan to deal with things. If America is to decline I believe it will be because of the international cartel of central banks, not the soldiers or maybe even our politicians.
The world wide markets have decline an average of 50% in the last year. Chinas stock market is off 69%.
General Electric is now crying poverty. Unreal. http://seekingalpha.com/article/106445- … sb_popular

From the PNAC 'Statement of Principles': 'a foreign policy that boldly and purposefully promotes American principles abroad' - go fuck yourself PNAC. We'll stick to European principles thank you very much.ATG wrote:

Is this another of the 'ever-present doomsday dates' that passes every single time with nothing happening?
We were supposed to have one eight years ago, then when that didn't happen, the 2012 bandwagon got jumped on.

Craptology at its finest.
What is more dangerous one world power or multiple world powers jockeying for position? If the report turns out to be accurate humanity is headed for a shit storm. A real one this time, not the omg gwb sux type.

Humanity has never really been out of shitstorms. We're in a shitstorm right now. There was just a longer than usual lull recently. A multi-polar world will more than likely be a good thing. Nuclear deterrents should maintain a cold peace and competition is what brings out the best in humanity. It's the basis of capitalism. To hope that a multipolar world isn't spawned is to expect humankind not to act naturally. Empires rise and fall, usually falling when they have become complacent, crepulent and corrupt. All world powers are generally self-serving - that's why a unipolar world will probably always be a transient occurrence. The new competition should bring out the best in us. Humans aren't done with war though and never will be. We are outgrowing the planet and we may to need to suck it up and pick up our guns if we don't come up with some resource solutions (preferably yesterday).Kmarion wrote:

A unipolar system is far more dangerous to the whole world than even a bipolar arrangement. The multipolar power idea is somewhat coming to fruition with the economic strength of the EU and of Asia (mainly Northern Asia - China, Korea and Japan), but the US will dominate militarily (which seems to be all that matters to some factions) for some time. The only thing that would change US military dominance is if we cannot self-sustain our forces, which doesn't seem to be the case any time soon.Kmarion wrote:

As far as the environmental concerns mentioned in the article, that is not new info- however it is fantastic that this information is getting published and the public is (could be) listening. The overfishing of many of the world's most productive and fertile fisheries has been occuring for the last 50 years and if sustainable fishing practices are not implemented and maintained, many people in the world (I'm looking at you South Asia and Northern Europe) will find their diet changing. Not to mention the mass exploitation and consumption of many of the world's natural resources by First World countries is and will continue to drain the environment, both through the elimination of those resources and through the industrial waste byproducts created from extracting those resources.
One major aspect to the idea of limited supplies of resources that many of these "doomsday" reports fail to mention is the concept that as First World countries are consuming resources at a ridiculous rate, developing countries and their populations who strive for the First World lifestyle they see on TV and through advertisements are going to be playing catch up. Somewhere down the road we are going to either; a) have to cut back our standard of living to allow for the rise of the developing populations; b) create intellgent and realistic solutions to successfully manage our consumption rates to a more sustainable position; or c) decimate whole lots of people so that we can continue to consume at unsustainable rates until we all die off.

The world has been teetering on the edge of collapse since man became self-aware--and yet we're still here, plugging along.
