Hell yes. I rarely talk about my core political views with my friends because it cam create divsion, which I would like to avoid. I think in real life I am more condescending towards people (strangers, at least) anyway, and thus, don't talk to them in-depth.

Even my own parents don't know that I don't believe in god.

So yes.

With close friends and family, I'm honest about my views. It would definitely not be a smart move to go spouting them off everywhere though, especially around here.

i pretty much say it how it is...on here, or irl.
i have lost much more than friends over less than my convictions and morals...i rarely care what people are going to think about me because of a belief i have.

the only difference here is that i cant haul off and punch someone in the face when they get out of line...

Pretty much, there's not much point really. In fact not much opportunity either, most people don't discuss much more than football, food,  TV and cars.

Really this is for debating practice, and a certain amount of venting TBH (sorry FEOS )

I generally try not to get to involved in person, because people tend to get offended when I call them cunts and they aren't good friends of mine. In a seminar at uni yesterday we had some girl who was spouting all the different 9/11 conspiracy theories, however appeared to only have the vaguest idea about them all. Something about the Jews planting bombs and George Bush did it etc... Anyway, the entire class basically ripped the piss out of her and I nominated myself to bring a pack of tinfoil to the next class, so we could have a hat making session. So that was slightly more D&STish, in the way that plenty of flaming went on.

i'm pretty straightforward irl, too straightforward tbh, but still there's stuff i'd say online and not face-to-face.

Funny, I was faced with this the other day. I was working with a soldier and having a great conversation, until he let me know about his devout Christianity and asked me if I were Christian.  Suddenly, I was on DST spouting off my reasons as to why I am not and how ( especially) his religion is hypocritical. We were civil and it was a pretty good conversation about religion, ( and we still talk and laugh), but He was left with the inevitable defense all Christians use as a last ditch effort to save an argument. Were you in a fight with Jesus about religion?
I was thinking that too lol

On the rare occasion I'm debating in real life I generally swear a lot more than on here. If I wrote how I talk on here every third word would be "Fuckin"

no.  Actually I'm a bit toned down here.

It depends on how familiar I am with the person I'm talking to in real life... I'm not going to start berating an Israeli on the issue of collective punishment if I have just met them and if they've been perfectly polite to me; I'm not going to start talking frankly about race to a black guy who's last name I don't even know yet and I'm not going to start discussing the imperialist nature of post-WW2 US foreign policy with an American tourist who has just asked me how to get from Dame St. to Trinity college.

I have however in the past ended up having arguments with Americans about the whys and wherefores of the Iraq war after a drink or two, it ended up with us agreeing to disagree... it was funny though when I mentioned something Michael Moore had said, he actually covered his ears and walked off as though the words were going to 'infect' him or something!

I also have a Jewish friend who has relations in Israel and we had to agree to disagree on that whole topic too.

I frequently berate my Israeli mate for killing children and stealing land. It's all good fun.

I am actually more of an internet-tard IRL than on the internets.

Mostly because all my friends are /b/-tards, and they all talk like that.
