I was going to just PM Parker, but I might as well get all of the input I can.

Someone is willing to trade me their Kel-Tec SU16 .223 for my Beretta 92FS. Assuming that they're both in excellent condition, is this a fair trade? I paid $500 for my M9 back in March and have fired less than 500 rounds with it.

I really want a rifle, and I also want to start carrying a pistol with me. My M9 is definitely not big, but it's a little too big to be carried around everywhere. Recommend a good, smaller pistol that would make for a good carry.

Get what you would enjoy having and you'll be happy.

Although I suspect the concealed M9 is more of a protection thing?

I'm too much of a drunk and irresponsible to carry a gun. I fucking love shooting them though. Almost as fun as shooting illegal immigrants and welfare recipients.

I'm hoping you're referring to legal CCW, but anyway.
I'd highly recommend a pistol of the Springfield series, in your case a compact (4 inch barrel, .45 cal) or a sub-compact (3 inch barrel, 9mm or 40 cal). I'd strongly recommend you choose .40 cal over 9mm though.

The best thing you could do is go to a local pistol range and try out a bunch of possibilities. Buy the one you're most comfortable with.

the break in period for a pistol is around 800-1000 rounds...

do it......get yourself as far away from the M9 as you possibly can.
kel tecs are damn good guns, but make sure you put a few rounds through it before you buy it.

get a 1911

and does it come with the optics?

and specs on the optics if it does....

and how many spare mags? does it come with the case? etc...

yeah dude, given the condition of your M9, and the number of rounds put down the tube, and also given a comparable condition on the rifle...its a fair trade.
Do you have another pistol you can carry/grab in a hot situation? If so, the get the rifle. If you've always wanted one, you'll be happy in the end. The .223 is a good civilian round. Also readily available at reasonable price.

I would have to say get rid of the fucking M9, they are over priced pieces of shit.
(I did a stint as a Marine pistol coach 8531 and thee gun is a POS)

Take a look at this site for ideas about a CC weapon. I go with Parker on this and suggest a short 1911 or a SIG(pricey), but if you want 9mm make sure you have 115-145g JHP 9mm P+.
