Chuy I see some iron on your desk tsk tsk
Once you start to apply yourself to understanding how overclocking works, you will kick your self for NOT having all available options. You can always run at default setting and not oc at all but know that when you are ready your mb will be as well.sixshot wrote:
I'm scared of DFI motherboards after hearing about their LANPARTY series. The amount of BIOS options they provide sounds like it'd be too much and too overwhelming for someone who only requires some of the basics but with enough to get things going -- the middle of the two extremes.

That topic is making me want to OC my processor even more. By the sound of it, I can get it to 4.2 from 3.6.
dont forgot though that the cpu could die in a year from extreme ocing, get good cooling
Marconius, am I really the first to spot that you haven't got a cat in hells chance of running BF2 on the rig you posted? Do I win a prize?
wew I saw many Systems in the other Thread with good Hardware except the Soundcard, many people still using onboard Sound.... why? They spend a lot of money in CPU + Graphiccards but the most important thing after this - the Sound quality - is b*shit.
With a good Soundcard and a good 5.1 Sourround System you'll never play Doom3 longer then 10mins.

guess sound card isn't one of most peoples priorities
tbh i was pretty impressed with the nF2 onbaord sound (Nvidia soundstorm) but am a bit disapointed with the realtek onboard sound that you get on the DFI nF4 SLI-D
might look at getting an X-FI, but they aren't exactly cheap
for anyone saying the lanparty boards have complicated bios the major settings are all the same, just has many more options for things you can't normally adjust, i havn't played with mine much, but i am very impressed with it compared to the asrock dual939 sata2 that i RMAd after 1 week :S

I am just amazed that some people are using RAID hard drive system, that realy i completly pointless unless you are afraid of losing crutial data. It the sort of thing large organisations have for their back up strategy, some large business dont even have RAID lvl 1 or lvl 5 because of their lack of IT knowledge.
wrong topic mate, this is the comment one not the system one. lol copy and paste yourself across.xGBlitzkrieg wrote:

If you got a good board, forget the sound card. I dont see a point with on board sound.
i believe the order goes CPU, GPU, PPU, then sound card atleast it would for me, sound card realy aint that important for me even with me running music, teamspeak and BF2 at the same time.Frytrixa wrote:

Too me its CPU GPU RAM HD S and ppu. but hey i have a xfi : )
btw. you know that the "X-Fi Soundcard Extreme Music" isnt better then the normal audigy 2 ZS? Yes you can enable "X-Fi" in Games, but it costs so much CPU Performance and you dont have the same sound like the fatality edition and the Elite Pro version? Its the same quality then the Audigy 2ZS!
If you dont believe me read some Hardware Tests and Reviews.
So if you want to have good Sound spend your 50 bucks in a audigy 2 start playing Doom 3, FEAR and HL2 in EAX 4 and you cant believe that you played these games before with onboard Sound

RAID level 0 can be a bit of a performance boost, but as said above RAID level 1 and 5 are pretty much pointless for your average home user
Striped RAID FTW![OvC]_AMD_Man wrote:

I on particular servers I can often cap a flag before most of the players have spawned, even though I don't have a very high spec PC in the RAM/CPU/GFX departments... and getting the commander spot is far too easy for my rank. Some servers see to have a longer pre-round delay... although according to a few admins I've asked about it they don't control that variable on ranked servers, so it might have to do with how long the server takes to load the map...
Yeh, i am hoping to pickup a pair of 36Gb Raptors myself and run them in RAID0
wouldn't normall bother with raptors, so damn expensive, but the 36gb ones are pretty reasonable now, and all they will store is OS, drivers, AV, firewall, games
also got another gig of ram on the way, just generally fed up of long load times and lag

And it's the only way BF2 will let you put your sound settings on "Ultra high".cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

*points* I see Guild Wars! o_o And boy, ya got enough Logitech equipment around? And that giant ATI logo... kinda figures you'd be running one for a video card. Actually it'd be more amusing if you were running a nvidia card instead.Nyte wrote:
