My dad got some energy saving light bulbs which contain traces of mercury, like wtf, that's not exactly eco friendly.

Do you happen to believe in liberalism as well?Burwhale the Avenger wrote:
You guys have your heads in the sand. Global warming is happening. Jeremy Clarkson knows shit all about climate change because although he is funny , he is an ultra conservative stooge that needs to get attention to increase ratings. I love on his trip to the North pole he says something like " I saw no evidence of Global warming at all", even though scientists prdeict that it is disappearing so fast it might not be there in a decade.
We can do heaps to slow Global warming / climate change. Fortunately most govts are on board with it (including new US govt ) so the sceptics are thankfully being ignored. Try joining the Flat Earth society if you need your fix of uninformed bullshit.
You lost all credibility when you insulted Clarkson.Burwhale the Avenger wrote:

It's not eco friendly, but it's an energy saving bulb. Not a environmentally friendly bulb. Learn the difference. That also goes for people who market energy saving bulbs as environmentally friendly/green. Maybe they are bad in the wider scope. But they save money/electricity bills and last longer, and besides unless you're an idiot and you drop it on the floor you can dispose of them safely just like batteries.M.O.A.B wrote:

There ya go then. So whats the problem with taking steps to combat "global warming", which in turn reduces damage to the environment?usmarine wrote:

because green laws are killing companies and killing jobs. there is a difference between recycling and bankrupting companies thru stupid ass carbon credit fucktardery.FatherTed wrote:

Yes, Global Warming is ocurring. No, we could not stop it. It's a cycle. It would have happened one way or the other. Not that that warrants our outrageous behaviour towards the environment, but suddenly switching to energy saving bulbs, drinking our own piss and riding a one wheeled bike is not going to change much. Even if 4 billion people do it. Yes it may slow the process down, but it will happen. Combating it is just slowing it down, and slowing it down just allows for more assholeish scientists to fling more crap at society. Lets see what happens.FatherTed wrote:

Stated that in my first post in this thread.Zimmer wrote:

It wouldn't do much with respect to climate change, but if 4 billion people did it (ok lets not take drinking piss/one wheel bike literally) you would notice some big changes.Al-Azeemer wrote:

Not really, cause I don't notice the changes now. Really, having a piss poor "summer" in England isn't anything new...Mekstizzle wrote:

We did not create climate change but we are w/o a doubt helping it along. IMO to think that we can reverse it or stop it is absurd. If we can integrate technology that is less destructive to the environment then i think we should, but even that seems a little overwhelming. There is more methane in our atmosphere then ever before and that's a fact but we all can't run out and convert our cars to run on recycled Thai restaurant cooking oil now can we. Thing is the world won't actually end, and in time it will self right itself no matter what we do to it. The problem is that the process is less then desirable living conditions for us. Like i said before, it's pretty foolish to think we can stop nature and/or the cycle of the entire planet.FatherTed wrote:

Climate change, happens. And it's happened lots of times before. Thing is this time, it's most definitely accelerating.
And even if you don't believe it, do you still not think we shouldn't ruin the environment?
