My thoughts exactly, this kind of thinking dominates the middle east, they need an external foe to distract the people from their own crippling failure as a government.

And we're all too happy to fill that role.

The problem is, without a unifying enemy, will the middle east degrade into an African style anarchy, I believe so, they have a similar tribal and religious mentality, but have been to occupied hating the west to resume hating each other.

Even if/when Iran tests their first nuke, the only thing that would happen is sanctions (big ones) that would cripple their economy (not that's it's not already quite bad), they would probably be isolated from the world (including and probably especially the other countries in that area) and forced to give up their nuclear plans.

Anyway I don't care if Iran have some missiles that can target "Europe" (Europe is a big place anyway, and we're right at the edge of it) - We have our own toys and I'll bet they're more reliable too. I, for one, don't really have much confidence in Iranian missile technology so I'm not worried. At least the US can justify it's ABM system (but I bet it still won't even work against Iranian missiles) - but not like we need an ABM system, but if the Polak countries are willing to sell themselves to the US for the benefit of us guys in W.Europe, then good for them.
