Sorry I havent posted in my own thread, I just got home from work today. I see a lot of your points about children going to school and having a structured arena for them to learn specifically about the purpose of the day. However, many towns such as mine have a parade as well as festivities during the day. Many of me and my friends as kids would go to the parade and the vets would have a bbq at the local American Legion post and the teens would all go and hang with them. Honestly, most of them snuck us booze but I learned a lot just listening to their stories. I don't know if other towns do this where you live, but if so and school is in session during a parade the parent should be able to excuse their child without an absence attatched to their record.

my thoughts.

The board of education voted that school should be open for Veterans Day. I think we should re-evaluate other holidays as well in that case.
I heard other towns in the state had school, mine was out

Rememberance day should be more heavily celebrated and have a greater public awareness than Christmas.

It's a fairly internationally recognised day and tbh, is far more relevant and worthy of marking than Christmas.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
