BF2S Forums problem with 1.21 Patch

check ur firewalls and update punkbuster.

ru on wireless? if so disable ur ethernet connection. obviously something is wrong there cause if its saying that ur not connected to the internet that means its not even trying to reach the servers.
most connection problems follow that they cant reach the server. usually caused from a firewall or some other problem but ur system isnt recognizing that its online.
check ur network connections.

no he s not on wireless    he  has the same problem as the other guy dont no his name  but this he was writing
i log in and wait like 5 minutes(weird) and finally it says "Failed to connnect, see network connections and try again"  this never happened before since 1.21.

it`s only started since the 1.21 patch when i instal bf2 and bf 2 sf and i go login no pronlem only the new patch 1.21

Ok. Not enough information to diagnose your problem so lets see if you can answer the following:

1. Are you getting an internet connection? Try going to bf2.ea.com and see if it loads in a browser. If you can get there in a browser or if you can get to the gamespy.com site then you should be able to get to the login server in theory.

2. Go to your Documents Folder and remove the Battlefield 2 Folder that has your profile. This will remove any login information you may have and you will have to retype it in. You will of course have to reset all your controls, audio, video settings and all that.

3. Go to Control Panel and use the Add/Remove programs function to remove all Battlefield 2 programs.

4. Install BF2 from scratch. Setup your VOIP when it comes up.  Then install BF2:SF if you have it.

5. Now install the Patch 1.21. If you do not have the FULL PATCH 360+mb one. Get it and use it.

6. In the Manual there are instructions to set up a router and which TCP/UDP ports to open. Make certain that are open. Esspecially the login server one.

7. You say you have Windows XP Firewall on. This should prove to be no issue as it SHOULD be on.

8. Make certain on your first time loading that you do not modify any files. So keep all /Battlefield 2/mods/movies/*.bik files as normal. Do not change them.

9. Do a search for punkbuster on google. Go to their site and download the manual punkbuster updater. Run it, add BF2 and then UPDATE it. This solves lots of issues.

10. If you still can't log in. Double check that your video/audio drivers are up to date.

Hopefully it works after this. If it doesn't then obviously you have an issue either with your CD-Key or the login and password you are typing in. This is something you will have to communicate with EA support with. That is the last resort.

6 He`s not behind Router

7 The Firewall in XP is Off!! and virusscan is also Off!!

8 I havent changed them

9 I did go to the site of punkbuster he was updating but still have the problem after a full reboot of the computer

10 Video and Audio drivers are up to date

11 i did allready a copy  to EA butt still no comment to this mail

I'm having the same kind of problem. I try to log into nearly 10 different servers and always the game said that 'check your connection blah blah'.  Finally I found ONE server that I can enter. That server is a ranked one (so it's running PB). My guess is still that this is some kind of PB problem.  Maybe the PB is now more sensitive to lag/packet loss.

for the punkbuster which one do i do? Theres a whole list of em.

So far, Im pissed with EA because I cannot log in. Been like a 2-3 months even after everyone's advice. i tried updating  punkbuster but it says cant download global config file and before I reinstalled everything(bf2, bf2sf, and patch) but that didn't work. Also I tried taking off norton antivirus and firewall which didn't work. Also making a new account didn't work because i needed to connect to make a new one. So I can't log in still and i'm really pissed off. Please help! I wanna play bf2 agaiN!
