Does the economic crisis have an impact for the company where you work ?

How is the employment/unemployment locally and nationwide ?

At the Toyota dealership where i work we have less carsales obviously due to the market globally is in decline and because the banks doesn't function as they should right now ... people are more reluctant to lend money and the banks are more reluctant to lend it out ... the drop in carsales doesn't mean so much for aftersales seeing as when our customers doesn't buy a new car they must atleast maintain the old one so aftersales is at a peak.

Unemployment has not taken a toll in Norway yet but construction will see large numbers without a job during next year ... the government has announced that they will start rehabilitation of government property to try to counter this, that remains to be seen ...

Well all of my friends in the construction industry (from the actual site workers right up to the civil engineers) are getting pretty anxious and many have been told their jobs are not safe. I work in technology research and thankfully the funding for my current work is ring-fenced for the next four years... or at least that's what I've been told!

Coming up on college graduation, the market isn't looking to good.

As a graduating Civil Engineer, I'm going to be fighting for a job the slowest economy in 6 years. Not only is the housing market pretty much stagnant, but all forms of construction are slowing down.

Needless to say, I'm trying to stock my resume with as many clubs and activities as I can.

The job market is holding up here..just, i check the job vacancy website daily and theres always new jobs being added.

I have only seen 1 small company go bust here which is good news i guess.

But the company my step dad works for is in trouble, and its the 2nd biggest company in Europe of its kind so its not going to go down un-noticed.

tbh the only people suffering are Polish builders. That's the sum total of the 'meltdown' here.

Home construction is down, so there have been a few less illegals around, I suppose.  I am in the medical field, having a busy year. I call Baby-Boomers 'job security.'
