Nobody has tested nukes in a long time, there's all sorts of bans and treaties and shit like that. Last country to test a nuke was NK I think, and the last Western country was France, on one of their pacific islands.
The US, and most of the other nuke countries, have things like massive supercomputers to carry out simulations and calculations etc.. to make sure that their nuclear stockpiles are actually useful. I remember reading about some country developing a supercomputer (a really powerful one) just to analyse their nuclear stockpiles and carry out simulations etc..
yeah we dont hear about nuclear testing anymore because most of them are done under ground.
the last underground test by the United States was in 1992, the Soviet Union in 1990, the United Kingdom in 1991, and both France and China continued testing until 1996.India and Pakistan last tested nuclear weapons in 1998.
Also u have 3 types of nuclear tests.
the one where they test it on the ground, the one underwater and the one underground.
