Nevertheless, after losing at the polls, gay rights supporters(ACLU, the National Center for Lesbian Rights,Lambda Legal, S.F. and L.A.) filed three lawsuits yesterday asking the California Supreme Court to overturn Proposition 8. It's an attempt to subvert the will of voters and to gut the democratic process.

All in all, this is more than marriage. The majority of California are kind of scared that their state will be the next Michigan (...with the gay agenda changes on the school system, churches etc.)

It's not a trolling for anything. It's a direct correlation between what you call shoving something down some ones throat. Your claiming that gays were shoving their lifestyle down your throat. How is it any different that you trying to shove creationism down everyones throat in schools? Don't know where you get all these ideas that all conservatives want to shove Creationism down the school system. Oh yes I see that on the news every single day... right? *sarcasm in case you didn't detect it* Unlike the gay agenda... you see it "live" everyday, just look at TV shows, News media etc. One guy does the Creationism bit, does not mean that 20 others that have that same belief in that shares the same feeling? That's the same excuse that atheists use that all Christians force their beliefs on others... if that's your point, then I wont entertain that thought of yours as it's total crock. Same ol Atheist vs Christian circle.
Like me, I would teach my kids at home what our beliefs are... the same with the gay agenda, just stay away from the schools and my kids.

Call me homophobic, as it's the easiest way for a liberal to sound cool and easiest way to try to make his voice be heard. I for one am not, I don't hate them... I don't really care that much that gays marry each other as I know it will happen real soon given the status of where this country is going to. My biggest peeve is that there is a big chance that the gay agenda wants to force down their ideals on our kids, and our government taking part of that. Just look at Michigan, one state usually follows the next.
Hope that answers you question.

I don't think sexuality of any kind needs to be taught in schools unless the class is specific to that topic, which shouldn't happen until well into high school. So lets deny this group of people the following rights, regardless of what you call it (marriage or otherwise) just so you can feel better about discriminating against a group of people with which you disagree.GraphicArtist J wrote:

"I don't really care that much that gays marry each other..." "the gay agenda wants to force down their ideals on our kids, and our government taking part of that." Give them those "economical" rights except the: "- child custody issues", Blame biology, it's not society's fault that they can't procreate. I suppose you are going to sterilize lesbians so they can't reproduce using current medical technology?
And tell me, what exactly is this gay "agenda" for the schools? To teach them that gays aren't gay because they just decided one day to be ridiculed at discriminated against? That even if you don't agree with it, they are out there, always have been, and always will be? That because they are different that you shouldn't beat them or discriminate against them for employment. That gays aren't the pedophiles that everyone makes them out to be. It's not like anyone is proposing a hands-on demonstration or that every child should give it a try.
You're getting out very different topics. I'm gonna stay in the topic in hand because if i give you my opinion on something that you mentioned it'll escalate into something else that isn't part of this thread.

And why can't gay couples have child custody issues? What is your excuse for that? Are you saying gay couples can't raise children? Because I've seen some crappy heterosexual couples that suck at raising kids.

We all know straight couples only raise straight children, after all! Therefore, kids with gay parents will OBVIOUSLY turn out gay!
bush's parents were straight

Black man gaining presidency only 50 or so years after the Civil Rights movement and all of that, if Gays get their freedom now-ish, what's the bet on a Gay President 50 or so years down the line
Anyway, so did P8 pass or not? I always thought California was a Liberal/Left state (I mean look at the President vote, Obama absoloutley owned McCain in California) so I'm guessing it didn't pass?

No, it passed. I thought the same thing, but for who knows what reason there are a bunch of radical christians there too. Enough to pass the measure at least.

I bet most people didn't even vote for the other stuff, people probably just went in there, did the President vote and then ignored everything else
Actually I think it could still all change if I've read this right...

http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/poli … riage.htmlWith 95 percent of precincts reporting, the ban had 5,163,908 votes, or 52 percent, while there were 4,760,336 votes, or 48 percent, opposed, a difference of about 400,000 votes. Late absentee and provisional ballots meant as many as 3 million ballots were left to be counted after all precinct votes were tallied.

No, I'm not getting out different topics. Every single thing I have posted has been around the discrimination of P8. Anything about creationism is only to show that it exists just as much from the other end of the spectrum. Lots of groups have "agendas" and they are trying to "push" them on to other people.GraphicArtist J wrote:

Yes, my point about lesbians is extreme, but it was to make a point. You say gays shouldn't have child custody rights. Exactly what does that mean? There are gay men that were once married and have children. Do they lose their parental rights because they are now in a gay relationship? Do we prevent lesbians from having children because they can't have the same custody/parental rights as a hetero female? What if one parent of a formerly hetero marriage, who also has custody of the kids, dies. Does the other parent lose their custody rights to become the custodial parent of their own child because they are gay?
Your right, we are going to agree to disagree. I'm a live and let live kind of person, and I just don't see denying people same legal rights as everyone else because of their sexual preference. I guess the saying that all men are created equal, but some more than others, still rings true as ever.

I'm truly floored that CA passed Prop 8. One of the last places I would expect that to happen.
That being said, the people filing suit over the passage of Prop 8 are barking up the wrong tree. Prop 8 is exactly what the CA Supreme Court pushed the issue to when they had their ruling: a ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional (WRT the CA constitution). Prop 8 is an amendment to the Constitution, voted in by the populace. It's no longer unconstitutional. Case closed.

Wow.Exit polls conducted by The Associated Press showed that African-Americans, who turned out in huge numbers, voted heavily in support of the measure. About seven in ten African-Americans supported the ban, while whites were about evenly split.
Analysts point out that African-Americans are more likely to go to church than whites as a reason for the difference in voting.
