ftr Kmar - our politicians get every bit as much of a lambasting amongst the politicians as yours do. Our Taoiseach recently got ousted from office following a concerted character assassination campaign during an investigation into his finances. The recent emergency budget issued by the ruling coalition here has caused a 10% swing to the opposition and plunged the coalition into meltdown crisis. The Irish gave a big 'fuck you' to the EU federalists with their 'No' vote on the Lisbon Treaty. Just because the US gets attention doesn't mean we don't acknowledge and rue the shortcomings of our own governments. Just look at the UK - every man, woman and child is sick of being the US lapdog and the government ignores monster marches against the Iraq war of Martin Luther King proportions. You should read some of the UK public and press treatment of Gordon Brown also.

So it seems yes ...

For our own part in dirty politics, we may have a major government scandal on the rise in Norway, there are indications that the office of the Prime Minister and one of the biggest banks in Norway had conversations just infront of the Norwegian bank-bailout announcement ... the Prime minister and the head of the bank are close friends ... it's under investigation ...

Is it true that many foreigners donated to Obama's campaign because donations under $200 are not required by law to be reported?

Any information about this would be appreciated.

Next time Iran, Iraq, Venezuela, Israel etc. vote are people (including Americans) who aren't from those countries going to care who wins?

Yes.

Did people have opinions about whether Mugabe won, an election that was likely to affect nobody at all on these forums?

Yes.

It's not just non-Americans having opinions on the US elections. People from all over the world have opinions on various other country's elections.

Foreigners (namely Europeans) supporting/having opinions on certain American candidates isnt wrong, its just stupid and a waste of time. . . . .

I dont give TWO SHITS who gets voted in France, Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain etc etc etc  Cause A. I dont pay taxes there  and  B.  I dont live there and whomever they elect doesnt effect me in anyway, shape or form.  I dont understand why some Europeans (particularly in these forums) act like they know dick about the USA, the people who live here, and our political process. WHEN THEY HAVENT WORKED, VACATIONED OR LIVED HERE!!!  Yet they claim they know whats going on. . . . . its obnoxious.

I also dont understand why they (Euros) think that who we elect directly affects them.  The average European will go about their daily lives with little to NO American influence touching them in anyway.  Yet they seem to think they should have a vested interest in who we put in the White House.

Seriously, did George W. Bush affect the way you live, make money, or pay your own bills?? No, the answer is NO!!! He didnt do shit to impeed you ability to live your little European lives.  Yet you want to pass judgement on him like he's YOUR FUCKING PRESIDENT!! Its silly, stupid and rediculous!! Now that Obama is President, the same shit is gonna happen i.e. NOTHING IS GOING TO EFFECT YOU! Yet you Euros love him cause he shares more socialist viewpoints on government.  I suggest you fix your own problems in you own countries before you start mettling in our politics and our problems.

We Americans love it when foreign powers support our wars, so why not our politicians?

Europe is OBVIOUSLY enthralled by Obama! and have been very vocal in their support of his assent to the Presidency.

Very true I must say. I was amazed - although not altogether surprised - by the crowd he drew in Germany (which was odd considering this was back when McCain probably had a tiny advantage)

Our policies directly affect the whole world.  Over the past 190 years we've intentionally enveloped the globe in our sphere of influence.  it's understandable that the people all over the world take interest in our politics and have their own opinions.

All our countries are connected through is MONEY, not our politicians. . . .  Our banking and commerce is what we need to be working together on, not petty political views.  Money is what keeps Europe and America so strong! I guess our shared opinions that free enterprise and caplitalism is paramount to successful and vibrant societies.

Those are linked faded and if you can't see the impact of your foreign policy on the rest of the world for the last 6 or 7 years you seriously need to wake up ...

Why on earth do think we Euros cares so much about who just got elected if it didn't have an impact ?

Read the entire post string, Dilbert.

It's funny how Europe gripes about the US meddling in other countries' affairs, yet Europe apparently has no qualms about meddling in the US's Presidential politics. Enjoy your double standards...again.
