Okay, well the minute we turn our involvement in the region into a full scale, imperialist invasion get back to me.FEOS wrote:

Oh hardly, Israel has never been used as a staging post and it never would be as it would ignite the ME just the same.Israel sending troops into a Muslim country in the Middle East would be the start of a major war, probably World War III. If Israel (Jewish country) attacked any Muslim country the entire region would go to war to attack them. What it does provide the United States is a literal foothold in the ME.
Better start making deals instead of threats. The United States wants to be able to secure it's oil in the region
Anway, as champion of the free market shouldn't you just pay market rate? What 'securing' is there to do?
For what exactly? Whats the plan? You have to think from pre and post Iraq invasion the United States will need bases, airstrips, and staging areas.

To be fair, even Kazakhstan etc.. are in the "Eurozone" - There's quite a few non-European clubs/countries that are in it. Stupid if you ask me. Turkey/Russia should be the border.rammunition wrote:

stupid twat why the hell are you trying to join the E.U and nato via your zionazi's in power (Lieberman)???
why the F**k are you participating in European football, both club and internationally???
why are you sticking your noses in European studies such as cern??
JUST PISS OFF OUT OF EUROPE NOBHEAD!!!
Not sure why. I guess everyone wants to be in Europe these days. Also Cern has alot of non European participation. Israel would never get into the EU or NATO
I agree though, you'd think after all those bad years in Europe they'd finally fuck off and stick to their part of the world but seeing as they're also hated their they're going to have to stick with the lesser of two Evils, poor bastards lol
Borders of Europe: Caucasus, Urals, Bosphorus.
Isn't advising and training one side technically involvement? After all, you're training one side to battle another with the skills you taught them.FEOS wrote:

you could make the argument that advisors see more action than someone in a line unit.
example, my old CO was put in charge of training the Iraqi military right before deployment. he ended up seeing action more often than his old company because the insurgents liked hitting the iraqi units a lot more than the American units, and the advisor has to be embedded with the guys he is training.

While we have a 'ally' in Saudi Arabia we don't need to use Israel as a predominate staging area. But Israel's location is a great location to stage for an entire region if we lose SA to a regime change. You have to assume that any threat that Israel is in the plans for is coming from the North of the region aka Russia (old Soviet Union). You have harbors and airstrips with quick access to both Europe and the Middle East. Basically if everything hits the fan Israel will be a beach head to send troops to multiple sectors of war.Dilbert_X wrote:

Securing means against the threat of violence from other sovereign nations. At first it was the old Soviet Union and now it is from instability and a limited amount of fright from Iran. And trust me the United States has made deals, why do you think we have a on going business relation with Saudi Arabia. A mostly conservative Muslim nation with a monarch in place that isn't that keen on open and free democracy. We pay the market rates but without a Western power projecting force into the region you can bet the rates would either be much higher or in risk of being cut off completely from political infighting in the region (Iraq vs Iran, Iraq vs Saudi Arabia, 7 Days War [that was Israel but just going to illustrate the instability in the region], etc.).Dilbert_X wrote:

The point is that the entire Western Culture is dependent on oil and petroleum products [plastics, nylons, rubber, etc] and without a projected Western Power in the region without risk of a violent regime change that holds similar ideals and values holds significant value for all Western countries. Saudi Arabia is not going to be a long standing ally. It is too fundamentally different from the United States and European nations. The people are not happy with western culture and I would not be surprised if they revolted against the monarch.Dilbert_X wrote:

Wow, and people call me a paranoid crazy.
When was that again? I forget.Iraq vs Saudi Arabia
Again, what is the plan? You're just going to march in, using Israel as a staging post, and impose a regime more to your liking? The point is that the entire Western Culture is dependent on oil and petroleum products [plastics, nylons, rubber, etc] and without a projected Western Power in the region without risk of a violent regime change that holds similar ideals and values holds significant value for all Western countries. There isnt a significant US military presence in Saudi Arabia, you guys know this right?

It was sparked by Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, but it was also about protecting Saudi from a possible invasion.
( in fact Iraq did enter Saudi territory numerous times, and were pushed back)

Not anymore. I think we pulled the last of the troops out in about 2003 ?God Save the Queen wrote:

Oh I'm sorry I meant Kuwait and the entire reason why the Persian Gulf War was fought.Dilbert_X wrote:

Yes, because that is what the entire west needs. It's how it is done, it's how it has been done for centuries, and it's probably how it is going to happen for a while to come too. If the west needs a resource or item it goes into the region, it finds an ally in the region and it puts it in power to better suit its need. I'm not saying it is nice, I'm not saying it is good, and I am not saying that it is right but it is what works and like it or not you profit from it and you wouldn't want to not have these resources. So before you go off bitching and complaining, think about how you would have to live your life when plastics, rubbers, nylons, automobiles, steel, and other things you take for granted in your life suddenly cost exponentially more.Dilbert_X wrote:

The moral superiority that you hold so dear is for nought when you try and attack the United States. It is a necessary evil that the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and any other nation that has ever had a colony or was an empire have also done and all Western countries profited from.

Yes but they are a trading ally. We actually use Kuwait more than Saudi and that is probably because we offer them enough military protection from countries that want to take their wealth from them. Same thing with Saudi Arabia and by keeping these countries' oil from being consolidated under one flag we keep the market price down.God Save the Queen wrote:
