Hey boys.

A while back I found this in a old drawer at my Granparents place. Im thinking it may be some sort of old lighter and may be missing some parts. On the front of this object, this is what it reads (in order)

Jack Daniels
Old time
Old
No7
Brand
Quality
Tennessee
Sour Mash
Whisky
Jack Daniel Distillery
USA 1866 (or 1856, the 4th digit is not clearly visible)

So, if you know what it is, take a shot! Thanks.

It is a lighter.  Unscrew the thing on bottom to add fuel.  Think it used (ethyl?) alcohol as a fuel.  Worked like an old style alcohol lamp.  Should have a cotton type thing for a wick to bring the alcohol to the top.

Like he said, it's a very old JD branded lighter.

PS - I'll buy that from you if you have better pictures and it's in decent condition.  I love old stuff like that.  What did you take those pics with anyway, a homemade camera?  Bleh.

PM me.

Even if it isn't that valuable in the USA, take that to Europe or Asia and I bet it would be worth even more on the American collector merchandise market there.

To be honest, though, I'd like to buy it from you and try to repair it personally.

good move, maybe it was ur grandpappy's old light? I'd keep it if it were myself tbh. You gotta cherish those old family memento's

I wouldn't attempt any restoration until you see an expert and get a quote  -if you clean it yourself you may damage/devalue it.

Trust me, i watch bargin hunt.

I thought you were cool Ted... I thought you were under the age of 40.

Btw Guinness in Australia tastes like shit, an Irish guy at the pub agreed with me. Reckons it has to be flown out from Ireland for it to be any good.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
