They all look pretty good, nothing big wrong with any of them

On borders I always just do a basic 1-2px stroke on a separate layer, set it to overlay and pop the opacity down til it looks good.

On cutouts like that I put a faint drop shadow on too, nothing too noticeable, just gives it a little 'pop' to make it stand out more.

2nd is best, the colours tie in nicely, I'd use the blur you did on the background of the 3rd on the 2nd one, but nowhere near as harsh, 1px or 2px gaussian blur would be plenty, you just need to bring the focus more to the foreground, not knock out the whole of the background detail.

Subtlety is the key, use lots of very tiny effects to make a big impact, not one over the top effect.

yeah, i was going to put the blur on the second one aswell but something screwed up bigtime and i ended up not having the logo there. cbf cutting it all out again so i just didn't do the blur on it.

and with the border thing, my border doesn't seem to wanna work, using a 2px stroke on a seperate layer, it always does the fade thing which i have no idea how to change :\

Way to big vertically, in my opinion. Mine are 350x120.
I don't recommend using borders, unless you really know what you're doing.
...and the main thing: Never put your focal point in the middle. Use the rule of thirds.

I think the first ones were better. The sniper is blurry, image doesn't have quality, border would be in order and reduce the height of the sig.

My border looks shite, I'm at work, not got time to do it properly, render was way too blurry to use but the positioning is better this time round Drop shadow makes it look a lot nicer.

i google'd how to make borders and stuff step by step, but the guides i got all gave me borders that were actually the background, or borders that gave me some really gay fade effect.

bottom line is, could you possibly write out a guide to make a border for me? would be very muchly appreciated

It's really simple, when you create the main rectangle section, make sure you keep it on a totally separate layer so it's easier to work on.

When you're ready to put the border on, make a new layer above the rectange layer but below everything you want to make 'pop' out.

Make sure you are on your new blank layer and hold ctrl and click on the layer with the rectangle in, it should make an exact selection of the rectangle.

Now go to edit at the top and choose Stroke, I used a 2px white stroke. Then altered the border layers blending mode to Overlay, then set the opacity to 75%.

EDIT: Oh and the shadow is just the basic dropshadow with default settings applied to everything in the sig.
