Sure, I just don't see how obamacuts, 800 billion dollars of new spending, a tax cut for "95% of working americans" and a tax increase on the people who employ millions is going to help the deficit.

Neither are universally wrong and neither are universally right. As Kmarion correctly stated, different times and situations call for different taxation policies. The tax increases should be correctly weighted to 'pay the societal bill' without going too far overboard in terms of cutting the disposable income of those in the highest echelon. You seem to ignore the fact that increasing the disposable income of those '95%' will increase their appetite for luxury goods (although there will be risk of inflation), i.e. prop up the markets for the capitalists wares. The 800 billion dollars of spending does not disappear into a hole in the ground either. Much of it will enter the economy and circulate - government spending and intervention was one important factor in lifting the US out of the 1929 depression.

The US, like all nations, has to pay its bills. The current taxation policy seems to have failed, so now its time for 'trickle up' to see how that fares.
