C'mon. You know you can stop being pussies for your love of dismemberment!

I've never really been into horror games (haven't played RE since RE3, never played Silent Hill, etc) but this game really pulled me in for some reason. I just got done watching the backstory of animated comics a few hours ago (available in hard copy...somewhere) and pre-ordered the game earlier today.

You play as Isaac Clarke, just a normal engineer, and you're responding to a distress call from the USS Ishimura, a mining ship. And surprise, surprise! There's fucking Aliens (called Necromorphs) on board. And another surprise - bullets do little damage to them! You need to, as EA puts it, "strategically dismember" them. AKA cut their arms and legs off, then use the "stomp" button to finish them off.

It releases this Tuesday.

Déjà vu.

Compressed repost:

Answer: No.
Reasons:
1) Not sure what kind of 'scary' it is yet. Monster closets suck.
2) Pre-orders for other games have already jam-packed my gaming schedule for this year, even with Spore petering off before I even got to tribal.

I plan to check it out in spring '08 if it's all it's cracked up to be.

Hmm this sounds familiar, you're just minding your business when you get a distress call, you check it out and OH SHIT ALIENS.

How much are they paying the plot guys?

If you get it in Spring, you'll probably be greeted by like...$25 copies.

I'll probably end up going to PnT and returning it within 2 weeks I'm thinking. I almost always do with SP games.

And unlike Gamestop, they actually give you a reasonable price back.

I don't think I've permanently returned a game in my life, and my library is ludicrous for it.

I do. I've returned a shitload of games. Bioshock (which I kinda regret), Superman Returns (god awful game), Gears of War, etc.

Currently I only have: Halo 3, BFBC, Rock Band, Rock Band 2, Madden '09 CE, Burnout Paradise and GTA IV. As in console games, I mean.

Come to think of it, with both console and PC games alike, I don't even have that many compared to some people.

Meh.

doesn't the "necromorph" concept remind anyone else of the flood?

It's the usual scifi plot, just hope the gameplay makes up for it.

A little. Most sci-fi games/movies/books about aliens tend to have something involving a species which survives by attatching itself to a host.

How the fuck does your govt have Fallout 3's morphine censored (which led to a worldwide revision of the game) but allow Dead Space?

Fucking hell..

Drug use, the parents don't want kiddies to be influenced and taught on how to use needles.

They are allowing this game though, so don't say anything to the censorship board...

I just don't get that. -shrugs-

It makes a tiny bit of sense though. "He's not a killer". He's not. He's supposed to be a hero.

Isaac Clarke does have that "hero" ring to it anyways..

When they talk about the humanity of the necromorphs, that was a large part of SS2.

The enemies would say "Kill Me" in a really creepy tone and it was kinda fucked up.

Looks good.

Damn it, pc release is the 20th.

I am a little wary of the third person aspect though, Doom3 was good at making you jump out of your seat because it was a fps and things would jump out "at" you.

It might not work so well in 3rd person.
