Americans like their trite, schmaltzy analogies, and the various appeasement threads seem to have gone quiet so here goes

It was thanksgiving, a young lady walks through the door of her parents home, brushes off the snow, takes off her coat and sits down to a turkey dinner.

Her father asks 'How was the trip dear? The weather looks bad from here'

She replies, 'It was OK, but there was one incident I thought I would share'

'I was driving along a country road, it was snowing heavily and I came to a bend. I saw a patch of ice so I slowed down. It was then I saw a car off the road, it must have caught the ice, slid off and hit a tree and ended up upside down in the ditch.
I stopped close enough to see into the car, but didn't get out, I mean it was cold and I wanted to get home - but I thought I'd take a look.
There were two people in the front, they were dead or unconscious, I guess they didn't have airbags because they were pretty messed up. In the back was a child strapped into a childs seat, I think it was moving a little.

The Father says 'Gee thats terrible, what did you do next?'

'Oh I drove right on, I mean, if they didn't see the patch of ice or were going too fast thats just their own fault really, and if they're too dumb to buy a car with airbags or they didn't wear their seatbelts what's that got to do with me?
If the kid dies, hey, stupid parents make for stupid kids so I'm doing the world a favour right? If it lived it would be psychologically messed up and probably become a crackhead and rob my house or something.
I guess I could have called 911 but they probably didn't have medical insurance, even if they did maybe it would be with the same company as me so I'd lose again wouldn't I? My premium might go up because they're stupid - screw that.
And I'd have to spend my time filling out forms and stuff, I'm an accountant, who's going to pay me my $100 an hour for sitting in a stupid police station?
Daddy did I do the right thing?'

Her Father's eyes welled with tears and he said 'Darling, finally, you're a Republican now'

I'm of a left leaning thinking and I find the above as bad as those stupid Republican stories like the one where the Republican offers the homeless guy a job whereas the Democrat gives him some money (which is just as unlikely to happen).

The Republicans started with great foundations. Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president. Somewhere they got lost along the way, but they aren't inhuman.

Ignorant? Maybe. Dumb? Some. Racially motivated? Often - but certainly not always.

Here it is:

A Republican and a Democrat were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person. The Republican gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his business for a job. He then took twenty dollars out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person.

The Democrat was very impressed, and when they came to another homeless person, he decided to help. He walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. He then reached into the Republican's pocket and got out twenty dollars. He kept fifteen for administrative fees and gave the homeless person five.

Now you understand the difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Just as offensive to Democrats as your story is to Republicans. And no person is going to not stop at a crash scene and help a baby in the back seat. Not even a Republican. lol And no Republican is going to offer a homeless person a job off the street either, but that's just my humble opinion. lol

Interestingly enough, the same comment can be made about Democrats.

I still find it laughable that those who live outside this country and aren't directly involved in our political process have such strong...yet uninformed...opinions on American internal politics.

Uninformed? How would you have any idea what sources those outside the country have access too?

And you'd be surprised how many news channels broadcast globally, printed articles are also freely available on the internet, and I have access to Scientific\Political\Medical\etc Journals published by Professors globally through my online university database keys that I can access from anywhere.

I probably have more sources and better informed opinions than you do.

Here's a news flash for you: We have access to the same news sources you do, and for the same reason.

There's a far cry between living it and reading about it.

So which is it? Are we uninformed or do we have the same access to knowledge you do? I doubt you ever read or listened to any commentary of the US from outside sources, other than bbc.uk maybe.

And as for

FEOS wrote:

That goes without saying. However I don't think you understand how the US internal politics have become something many people the world over have a huge interest in, because it does affect them. In some instances, this election is going to affect those more than it will you.

The US is a world power. It's political influence across the world is unmatched, by any other country. I don't have to spell that out to you.

Yet you've got one of the worst voter turnout numbers in the world. Maybe that says just how interested Americans really are about their own internal politics.

I think you wouldn't have gone to the trouble of posting if the above was directed at the Democrats, although I agree with your comment.

Also, I'm willing to bet that the D&ST non-Americans are more informed about your internal and external political affairs than the vast majority of American voters.

I am Republican because of something my father told me many years ago.

"Son, a honest days pay for a hard days work".

Today, Oct 12th, I turn 30 years old and I look around and love what I have. A gorgeous wife who loves me, a handsome well mannered son, a beautiful house, a good stable job and money in the bank. I absolutely despise the pieces of shit who work the system that I pay for. This spans from the top (AIG, Fanie Mae, Freddie Mac, ....etc executives) to the bottom (Laquanda and her illegitimate children who drive a $40,000 SUV but only pay $92 a month for state housing)

Fuck these people. Fuck them.  They are weak and unworthy of the air I breathe and I know deep down inside it is people like me that enable their survival. I want a government who will let me have my money and chose to do what I wish with it because I am capable of surviving. Unfortunately I havent found such a government.

Once and or all FEOS, if your country would stay within its borders and stop meddling with other countries affairs in such a way the world gets the results, I wouldn't mind who you elect to be your president.

But since it's not gonna happen, you bet the world will continue to criticise your politics.

My wife is a nurse and she tells me about how she has a lot of problems with nurses aids at work. You probably know there is a demand for nurses, aids, cna's etc so the hospital my wife works at is no exeption. She makes the schedules for the nurse aids and she held a meeting and asked if anyone wanted overtime because it was available. Several of the aids told her that if they make to much money they will get less from the state and their rent will go up so they opted to not take the overtime!! One of her employees pays less than $100 a month rent for a 3 bedroom house and her boyfriend lives with her unbeknownst to the state. He collects unemployment.

These are things that anger me. This is why I get emotional and pissed off. People like this are shit fucks and I hate them. I don't even think shit fuck is a phrase, but if it is now I'm the one who coined it.
