As I have posted before, people continue to buy bullshit gaming machines and shit, yet can not pay a fucking bill. Yeah we are going down the tubes alright, however, it looks like clothes food and shelter will go before our beloved gaming consoles. ATG, I do not wanna hear about all those poor people that got hoodwinked. Note the date on this article, the economy was to have collapsed weeks ago.

Lowing, that article is two years old.  As in, when the Wii was released.  I don't see how this relates to our current economic crunch.

Indeed.

And plus, video games and food tend to be the kinds of recession proof things that people look to when there's an economic downturn.

Well your hardly part of the solution now are you?

Why don't you donate some of your spare tax dollars since the Repubs are so kind to you and give it to those in need?

Your attitude:

You think "so what" if people can not afford a home and are complaining about gas and how they have no money, yet they go in debt or spend cash on shit like this. Not sure if you are a tax payer, but I am and I do not feel sorry for dipshits that will buy shit like this and complain about their money problems.

Have you actually bought a Wii?

They are awesome.

Don't put shit on one if you've never played or don't own one, because your just jealous of those who do.

Yeah. Right. The stores will have a good stock this holiday season.  As the "experts" predict this will be the worst holiday shopping season due to economics.

And if a parent is trying to by their kid a console for christmas, Wii is the cheapest. But I see alot of families skipping the consoles this season.

But I completely agree. People shop and destroy the economy.....k.....

According to this, the Dow Jones was 3000 points higher on the date that article was released than it is now.  I don't think that the article's authors were anticipating such a drastic drop before the holiday season.  In other words, I think buyers will be more conservative in their spending that Nintendo had anticipated back in August.

Being a gamer, I just have to correct you - it's not. The 360 is. FWIW.

What, in need of a fuckin' WII? No thanks
Thats funny. I think Aussie was insuniating  the bailout as giving to the wall st people in need as a joke. And it was funny.

Your answer sounds like your tax dollars are going to pay welfare recipients. WHo are apparently the only people who buy wii's.

So, gamers drive the economy now?

I'm trying to find a way to approach this topic, but it's just not based in anything other than an observation that people buy a lot of x, so that must be causing economic depression. Substitute x for anything equal to or more expensive than $200.

People buying HDTVs are ruining the economy.

People buying airline tickets are ruining the economy.

People buying laptops are ruining the economy.

People buying new cars are ruining the economy.

Can you help me out with some more examples, lowing?

That's more or less what I meant. Lots of people act like idiots and it's not something I'm going to get too worked up about.

At least not until someone gives them billions of dollars as a reward for acting like idiots, then I'll get worked up.

Wall Street/Honk Kong/Square Mile banker: "Damn those Wiis!!! Sell! Sell! Sell!"

I don't know about the US but over here Wiis generally don't necessitate bank loans or significantly dent your monthly salary....
