A mate wants to buy a laptop and I was hoping you guys might be able to help me/him out on where to go/what to buy.

Price: between £400-£600 (£600 absolute max, best £500ish)

Will be playing RTS on it, so something that would manage games like medieval 2 and what not.

17" screen

Thanks for help

17" or bigger?!

17" is the maximum for a laptop, I think...

But Dell's worth looking at, seriously.

Alienware used to do a 19'' I think, and dell have those 20.1 laptop/desktop hybrid things.

Although both are way out of this budget.

Well HP has the Dragon or something, and it's pretty massive - 20+" screen if I'm not mistaken.

In any case, Dell and HP are both good choices to start your search. They both sell decent notebooks at fair prices, though customer service (at least for the consumer lineup - I've heard a few good things about Hp's business notebook support) may be a bit lacking.

I'll try to do a more detailed post later, have class in 5 minutes.
