I just came back to playing BF2 after almost a year not playing - since Christmas '07. when i try to log in, the game freezes, and I'm forced to restart the computer. i uninstalled and tried again - same problem. i even tried creating a single player account - again it happened.
whats wrong and how can i fix it?
thanks

if you reinstalled - make sure you are patched to the newest version, also check if all needed ports are opened on the router (is you use one)

XP or Vista?  If using Vista, try setting it in compatibility mode, and running as an Administrator.

(Right Click BF2 ► Properties ► "Compatibility" Tab ► Check "Run this program in compatibility with [Select Win XP SP2 from drop down menu] ► Ok)

Copy the profiles folder from My Doc's and save it to desktop. Then delete it from My Docs and try start the game. Report back.

about the router, call me a noob if you like, but i actually have no idea about what router i have. is there actually a way to check?

After copying the folder, did you delete the original from My Documents?
