It's fucking fall again, and that means chlorophyll is getting tapped out all over the northern hemisphere. Due to Colorado's altitude a lot of the colors are in full swing, so I realize that it may be a bit early for you guys to be seeing autumn colors. Maybe you've taken them in the past, or maybe there's a tree down the street that is starting to change. Go outside and grab a shot! Show off your leaf peepin' pictures.
My roommates and I piled into the jeep on saturday as we headed into the mountains to enjoy one of the few warmish days left in Colorado. A quick jump up I-70 to Idaho Springs, where we took Virginia Canyon road (otherwise known as Oh My God road)north into higher country. Oh My God is a nice bumpy dirt road that winds through a bunch of old mines before dumping you off in Central City. This was by no means a deep plunge into the heart of the Rockies, where the water runs crisp and deep, but a 90-mile afternoon jaunt.

It certainly doesn't look it, but this was one of the bumpiest roads I've ever driven on. So much fucking fun!

We took highway 119 up to Rollinsville then drove up East Portal road, which dead-ends at the east end of the Moffat Tunnel. You can continue up Old Moffat road to Corona Pass on the continental divide, but the road dead ends at a closed-off tunnel. That sucks because the tunnel is the only thing that prevents you from connecting to the other end of the road, dropping down into Winter Park.
The trip wasn't as warm as I'd hoped it to be, and we got rained on a little, but in all it was a perfect fall day.
We drove through Nederland and popped out in Boulder, then came home. Next weekend we're heading up to Breckinridge, Frisco, and Granby. That trip is going to be amazing!
