I just turned on my 360 and all I get is a black screen. I can hear sound in the background from games and the menu. The cables should be fine as it was working earlier today and the switch for HDTV/TV is on TV as I do not have an HDTV at the moment. I also get no red light of death or any red light. The only light that comes on is for my controller which is green obviously. So any help? I emailed microsoft support but they are F'n idiots who sent me a bunch of crap on the red ring issue which is NOT my issue. Any help or suggestions before I send it to get repaired.

I have read that if I wiped all connections using alcohol or something like that then the video will work again?

try a dvd or something, check the connections, make sure theyre all tight, make sure the dog didnt chew the video cable, try a different TV

Then use the alcohol (I mean its a last resort, its not a magic fix i would assume) but dont use near an open flame, or area with electric current turn the xbox off

check the connections, sounds like the audio cables are connected but the video cables are not.  if it's HDMI then i dont know.

Mine did the same thing.  I did the towel trick (google it).  GPU came unseated from the board.  That fixed it right up.

To get it not to do it again I added a 60mm fan:

Running a year now without any problems.  Give it a shot.  Good luck.

^^nice mod but back to trex's problem. 1. Check all the connections like everyone else said. 2. remove hard drive and snap it back in place. 3. check your input on your tv. If your usign a switch it might just be on the wrong hdmi setting.

That's all I have but good luck man.

I got a bunch of PM's on how to do this so here yea go.

Take apart your xbox.

On the front of your board you will see this:

Find an old mobo and pull a three pin connector off it.

Take your solder gun and clear the holes out:

Insert your three pin connector and solder it into place:

Last, you need to connect the R7V7 (Which is 12v) with some solder. (R7V6 is 5v)

Then you got a 3 pin running 12v and can hook up and computer fan you want.

Would that not void your warranty? Would sending your X-BOX in not just e easier?

Sorry, Curious PS3 Fanboy here.

Yes it would definitely void the warranty.  However with the older xbox's bricking every other day, it is the best option then having it in the mail 90% of the time.
