Well if the child was very young then yes the parents are to be blamed for lack of supervision in this case but that doesn't detract from the fact that the nets were badly designed.

I certainly was not supervised every time I played soccer growing up...I mean it's not like it's archery or clay pigeon shooting.
were you supervised playing soccer at 20 months old do ya think?
Was the kid Brazilian or something? I was probably still shitting my nappy at 20 months.

The nets were still badly designed though.

No they were not badly designed, they were designed for soccer NOT for a toddlers play house. What was badly designed is the supervision of this poor kid.

No lowing, they were badly designed and you just don't want to admit it. If the holes in the net were large enough for a toddler's head to fit through them they were most likely large enough for an adult foot to go through them. Sometimes defenders have to race back to goal in an attempt to clear the ball off the line and they often end up in the net...a good net will not allow the player's foot to pass right through one of the holes and potentially cause an awkward and painful tangle.

But yes, the parenting was 'badly designed' too.

I see, so a true "regulation net" woul not allow even a foot to get through?

Anyway, the net is loose enough that the baby's head might have gotten wrapped around the netting instead of through the netting. I assume the nets are that loose anyway.

Well it shouldn't do, modern nets are quite neat and have relatively small spacing.

A kids net definitely shouldn't be that slack. Most professional nets aren't even that big and slack to allow that to happen, although I have seen nets in Portuguese league games that are very 'baggy' and hang way back from the goal line, they would possibly allow for such a thing.
