We nuked two cities to hell and put a man on the moon.  We consume 25 percent of the worlds energy even though we have less than 10 percent of its population.  We spend more on our military than every other nation in the world combined.

Suck on that British Empire.
You're like 4th in the history of the world. Never said anything about the glory of the empire.
Well fine then, but when I talked about small town values I was half joking anyway.  Most powerful empire in the modern world.... there, happy?
Far from it.

You don't have an empire. You have military bases in foreign countries, like everyone else does.

I agree.. and I speak from experience. You've always got a certain amount of idiots who live RIGHT ON THE WATER staying behind for no good reason. It's usually a minority of people who do it though. And yes, they complain when rescuers are reluctant to go into the high risk areas they should have left.

I know the word trillion might sound like a lot to you. It's actually a small percentage of our GDP.

Trillion here is one thousand times what it is in America.

1 trn = 1,000,000 bn (Europe)
1 trn = 1,000 bn (US)

Well, first we gotta define what 'Empire' means in this case. Or, in your own personal case/opinion. Do we need gladiators? Big wooden ships? Fire bombs that can't be put out? Horse drawn carriages and bow and arrows? 100,000 of steeds and warriors?

I think, the word empire has to be redefined for the 21st century wouldn't ya'll agree?

Basically if you stay behind after a mandatory evacuation has been ordered, you have waived your right to emergency services.  In other words: you might get help, you might not.

My opinion:
They should have to reimburse the government for the chopper rescue.

Exactly what I think.  Living in Florida, you tend to know when a really bad one is coming.  Of course the Weather Channel, and every News station plays them up to be huge, but you have a good idea if it's really going to be a bad one.  If they say evacuate and you don't, then it should be your financial responsibility to get out, unless you couldn't get out during evacuations for reasons beyond your control.  ie handicapped, etc.

The government is a scapegoat half the time. There is never really one person or group to blame for anything. This is a prime example of people being stupid, and in the end we'll back on this as the government's fault.

It's times like these when I feel bad for politicians.

I'm going to go with when an evacuation is ordered you can get out by any means necessity.. Steal cars left behind, boats, planes etc.. Fuck it it's going to get ruined anyway, you just have to return it afterwards.. Hell if I was rich and owned a bunch of real nice cars I'd help people out, it'd be free labor.
