How did that massive attempt to define Sarah Palin as dangerously unprepared to become the “standy President”, as one wag put it, work out for Barack Obama?  Decidedly mixed.  On the good side, he got 36% of the voters in the latest AP poll to agree with him.  On the bad side?  Well ….
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080912/ap_ … gn_ap_poll
The poll suggests that perceived inexperience is more of a problem at the top of the Democratic ticket than in the No. 2 spot for Republicans.

Eighty percent say McCain, with nearly three decades in Congress, has the right experience to be president. Just 46 percent say Obama, now in his fourth year in the Senate, is experienced enough.

Fully 47 percent say Obama lacks the proper experience — an even worse reading than the 36 percent who had the same criticism about McCain running mate Sarah Palin, serving her second year as Alaska governor after being a small-town mayor.
Hey, thanks for making experience an even bigger issue than before, Senator Obama. After the first shrieks of “untested” went out about Palin, the Democratic offensive got everyone wondering about the credentials of the top of the Democratic ticket.  Result?  Epic fail.  More people believe Obama lacks enough experience for the job than believe him suitably prepared.

Overall, McCain takes the lead among likely voters by four, 48-44.  He has more base loyalty now than Obama, by eleven points.  And while Obama leads in younger voters, McCain’s lead is strongest among older voters — who show up more reliably to vote in elections.  He also has a large lead among white voters of all educational backgrounds, a sign that Obama may have the same problems he had in the later primaries once out of the urban areas.

The AP poll also confirms the Gallup findings that the generic Congressional ballot has narrowed considerably.  They have the Democrats with only a five-point lead, which bodes ill for any expansion of the Democratic majority.  Given the trends since the beginning of August, a Republican victory in the House appears a rational possibility instead of a pipe dream.

Democrats have to be dumbfounded at the state of the race with less than eight weeks to go before the election.   Their presidential ticket was supposed to usher in a new era of Democratic control.  I’d start watching for overt signs of buyer’s remorse in the next few days.

Can you find as easily documented examples as those of Palin and McCain?

Now that Sen. McCain is a maverick again, and has picked a cute little conservative for VP,  I'm guessing that Obama will probably lose.  Up until Palin's nomination I think it was popular to embrace this "change" fad and feign concern over McCain's primary victory.  In the course of a single week, starting with Ms. Palin's nomination, the Republicans not only co-opted the "change" fad, but took control of it.

The republican convention was as much a Sarah Palin gang bang, as it was an amicable, but complete, divorce for their once golden child, George Bush.  I was and am in awe of the Republicans ability to not only disconnect themselves from the mess they created over the last eight years, but to completely get away with it.  They all got on stage, and with straight faces said that the Republican party was the party of change after eight years of Republican control.

So, now McCain has said he isn't four more years of George Bush. despite the fact that they're both Republicans, despite the same spend and don't tax approach, despite the same foreign policy, despite the same healthcare and education strategy, despite the same border policy, what he says becomes the reality he requires.  He's not another Bush administration, because he says he's not another Bush administration.

I think America is now comfortable voting for McCain, because he has made himself the "change" candidate.  All those undecideds can now get the "change" they want without voting for that black guy.  And now that McCain has a woman on his ticket, they can still feel special when they vote for that "historic" ticket.  The McCain/Palin ticket is the ultimate in comfort for the average, undecided American.  And I'm not trying to make it a race thing, it's a comfort thing.  White america, the vast majority of America, while not neccessarily racist, I think, are more comfortable with the old, rich white guy, and his cute little sidekick.

"Sarah Palin gang bang.. she's only popular because she's cute".
Did you intentionally mean to come off as sexist?. I also can't  figure out how we can be comfortable with a women as VP, considering we've never had one. But I guess if the Democrats had any brains and wanted to win (according to you), and if they were targeting "the comfort vote", they would have put Biden at the top of the ticket. Seeing as he is the old rich white guy.

Yes, she is only popular because she's cute.  Were you a big Palin fan before the 29th of August?  Was she the Hillary Clinton of the Republican party?  No, she got up on the RNC stage, said a bunch of nasty, partisan shit, in front of a crowd of men that wanted to fuck her, and women that wanted to be her.

And yes, I did intentionally mean to come off as sexist. now that the conservatives are all about womens rights, someone has to be the bad guy.  God forbid anyone even suggest McCain's choice was purely political.  It's not like he'd only met and spoken to her once.

I also can't  figure out how we can be comfortable with a women as VP, considering we've never had one
As I wrote, I think America is more comfortable with a white guy and his cute little vp than some black guy.  And by America, I mean all the stupid, undecided retards out there.  The people who care enough to vote, but don't actually have any solid social or economic values.

Yes, why have primaries, when they can simply put Biden at the top of the ticket.

Why can't a person be a fan of someone they are getting to know? Why can't they admire her and the way she handles herself and her family? I don't have a problem with you calling yourself sexist, but your making the assumption that anyone who connects with her is too. It doesn't take a big bad tough guy to say that. Just presumptuous ignorance.

Nasty partisan shit?.. Nice sig.

Just because you haven't made your choice it doesn't mean that you are a retard. FFS these guys haven't even debated each other yet. There is nothing wrong with waiting and taking in as much information as possible before making your decision. I haven't decided.. I have plenty of social and economic values.. But they just aren't exclusive to one candidate or platform.  The irony is that most of these "retarded" open minded voters are the least influenced by race or identity politics. Believe me, if race was an issue to someone they would have made their mind up a long time ago.

You sure do enjoy tearing down people who don't agree with you.

This Palin love affair is bullshit.  She is bullshit.  John McCain choosing her is bullshit.  What I find sexist is a presidental candidate choosing a woman, simply to fill a need.  To appeal to undecided women who are obvously satisfied knowing one of the tickets features a uterus.  And now, because the media is doing it's job, they're all sexist and elitist and liberal, and out to get Palin.  It's just not fair.

Just because you haven't made your choice it doesn't mean that you are a retard. FFS these guys haven't even debated each other yet.
Yes, debates. candidates aspousing their scripted talking points.  Obama's stance on abortion?  let's wait for the debate.  McCain's stance on healthcare?  let's wait for the debate.  If you aren't familiar with their respective positions by now, then yes, you are at least a mild, functional retard.

The irony is that most of these "retarded" open minded voters are the least influenced by race or identity politics. Believe me, if race was an issue to someone they would have made their mind up a long time ago.

If someone doesn't agree with me, that means they actually have an opinion.  Which I can respect.  You have your opinion, I have mine.  You have no opinion, or you feign some kind self-satisfying impartiality, you're a douche bag.

Well, maybe Florida and Michigan should have shut the fuck up and played by the rules, like 'em or not.  And maybe Hillary should have kept her word.

By picking Palin the GOP through out the bait... and instead of pointing it out and making the Republicans look like the jackasses they are, the Dems went for it... and failed.

..fair lol. McCain was lacking in the conservative department. Palin brought that to the table. I guess a self admitted sexist wouldn't see that.

Poker must not be your game. You can learn a lot from watching a debate, body language and tone can be telling. You also have to answer questions live and on the fly. If anybody should understand this it should be you. You practically wet yourself over Sarah Palin's Bush Doctrine reply. I'm sure if she was able to reply with a predetermined scripted remark you wouldn't have been nearly as excited.

Race and sex are part of identity politics. Politicians are constantly flip flopping adjusting their positions, and waiting to see where they end up before deciding is just smart. Basing your vote solely on a party line (again nice sig) requires little to no thought. But lets call everyone else a retard

Not having an opinion and waiting to pass judgment until all the cards are in play does not make you a douche bag. Calling someone a name because you can't comprehend exactly whats going on in their mind might though.

lol..Talk to the Democratic leaders in those states. Actually in the end their delegates were counted. But only after Obama had secured the win. What a fucking joke. I'm sure the GOP will appreciate your self destructive disenfranchisement. But hey, let's bitch about whats fair when being led by the party of "superdelegates".  ..fair lol

McCain and Palin together make Bush look like a highly educated monkey.

Even if Obama crushed a bit under the pressure of presidency and the pressure of the big powers in the US, he would still do a better job on drugs than with McCain as president.
