I don't know if what the lady said was making sense. At first the translation seemed to imply she didn't think there were a clash of civilizations, then she said there was.

Well for one they have no Voice here in The USA. The fact that the video was in Arabic tells you no Western News agency gave a crap enough to translate it.

They are the only people besides WWII Germans that can be killed en masse to get a cheap cheer at the movies. In the USA we wouldn't hear about 20 Arab deaths by fratricide, but if a mail box gets knocked over in israel we have a news specail about it and we see footage of a cute little Cuacasian girl holding a kitten and crying.
When the Arabs used to just throw rocks no one cared. When they used to hijack planes and return the planes and passengers unharmed no one listened. Now its too late we are at war with them and the War must be won. Anyone who thinks they are uninvolved or will not be affected is sadly mislead. These people are not dumb, they gave us much of our mathematics, They were and may prove again to be a power full force in the world. This is just the beginning.
Time means nothing to these people. They move un effected by election cycles or term limits. If they had to use only two words my guess is that they would be Enemy and Forever. Its gonna be a long and heavy haul.

Yes, they had very accomplished individuals, who advanced the sciences and medicine in many ways. They had some of the best and brightest minds. These individuals whould be sponsored by local kings and rulers to display how enlightened they were.Horseman 77 wrote:

The king would die. Sometimes in a war, sometimes assassinated (the very word 'assassin' in Arabic in origin), sometimes even of old age. There would then be a power struggle for who would be the next ruler. Those enlightened individuals would flee for their lives, or face being killed for being favored by the previous ruler. Such was their enlightened culture.
What I find irratating is the attitude of: "Islam is a religon of peace, and if you say any different I will kill you."

Ok.. yeah people did marry younger... but compare prophets. People throw a fit if you suggest Jesus was married. No one doubts ol Moe married several women. I agree, it doesn't matter. The Koran is filled with many conflicting verses, but basically "progressive Muslims" have to really twist teh words to come up with a free society. For instance, the chadora was originally a status symbol meaning that your wife didn't work in the fields. Now it's required in many fundamentalist societies.
The Koran has a lot of verses that seem to endorse abusing women. Ok, different times, but a lot of women in Islamic societies are beaten and murdered without consequence.
I get sick when I hear a lot of apologists in the west who want to blame everything on us. Islam has been at war with the world since its creation. Within two hundred years of the prophet's death, they had forged an empire in blood.
Many people want to view the Crusades as a "Holy War" to reconquer Palestine. It certainly attempted to do that. But what goal it did accomplish was to reverse the tide of Islam. By 1492 the Muslims were out of Spain. Many forget that up until the Crusades, Islam had been encroaching upon Europe from two sides. They continued afterwards, reaching Vienna twice.
Call me a bigot that lacks the infinite wisdom of some people, but I believe Islam is the religion of Ghenghis Khan (not literally, by that I mean a religion that justifies empire building). People talk about how tolerant it really is, citing examples of when they ruled people of other religions.
I am biased, I think religions are a throwback to the time when we as a species were in the dark about the universe. If believing that angels dance around you makes you a good person, then thats great.
