Which mobile phone should I get?

My mum managed to put my 6 month old Samsung u600 in the washing machine, and surprise surprise, it didnt survive.

So, im in the market for a new phone.

Plan is to get the O2 simplicity contact (600 Mins + Unlimited texts for £20/month = ) - but as it is SIM only, i need a phone to go with it.

What do you think?

I'd really like a 3G iPhone, but the contract is too expensive, and the O2 one is too good to miss. So apart from anyone that, can anyone reccomend me a decent mobile? I really liked my Samsung u600, and am not into PDAs/BlackBerrys/Nokia N95's.

I just want a standard, mid range phone. Dont care if its 3G or not. Want a camera, MP3 player, microSD slot... the usual.

Suggestions?

I have friends who have this shit happen to them. Well, actually just one. I think he's gotten 3 new ipods over the years because he breaks them and probably 4 cell phones. His parents just go out and buy him new ones.

I never realized parents were stupid enough to keep paying to buy their kids the same shit because they can't manage to take care of it.

Id love the iphone. But i cant get it in the UK SIM free. Apparently they're brining out a Pay as You Go one in time for Christmas, but that's too late for me. Plus the handset will be like £400.

On Topic: Im not really comfortable jailbreaking an iPhone. Going by this incident, im not as carefull as i could be with my phones, so a warranty would be nice to have.
