i'm 21 years old i started in 2006, its just my hobby i dont like to spend too much time in front of the computer i like to draw or model stuff when its raining outside or if i have nothing else to do
i dont sell models I can make some things for free when i have free time

Yea, I can't very well UV map it because of all the damn poly's, and I have no idea how to make the lighting realistic and the gun look better.

If he is serious about getting in the game design business... his best bet is to get involved with a game mod... BF2 TF2 QW Crysis...etc
and do as many different thing as he can... modelling...texturing...umwrapping... level design...animation...rigging... learn some of the scripting language... python... Lua... etc... and find out what he likes the best and is good at... Game companies are big on hiring succesful game modders... It's also cool to learn in school... but modding is more real world with all the issues that pop up and how to deal with them to make the mod/game a success
