I fucking love Protest the Hero. I can't seem to ever listen to them enough, and I pretty much everybody I have ever showed them to loves them as well. Shame they aren't very well known down here. I saw them down in Atlanta a few months ago when they were touring with A Day to Remember and it was incredible. So I thought I would share a song or two of theirs, just in case you guys don't know of them.

I love the main riff in this one and the chord progressions before the bridge. Also, the lyrics are fucking amazing.

This is my personal favorite. It has a wicked bass solo, and the lead guitar part for well....the whole song is outstanding.

Another great song. The riff at 3:03-3:16 is so fucking epic, it is almost hard to believe.

It was ok for lighter stuff.

The lyrics were too emo for my taste, the guitar was average (I have been spoiled by Necrophagist and Amon Amarth), and the drums were meh. If they were a little bit more colaborated and put some more rythmic riffs instead of something that just sounded put together then it would be better.

Yeah, I can understand how it could be hard to be impressed by any guitar work after listening to Suiçmez, guy is fucking God-like.

Why does it seem that many of todays succesful emo bands are watered down versions of ATDI (a truly epic band)? This one throws in, in addition to the aforementioned, some efforts to be Dream Theater. Meh.

PTH has potential, and I liked much of the stuff I just heard, but at some point they just seem to take the easy way in choruses and go the contemporary corporate "this'll sell to the teenage crowd" emo-way, ruining their chances of ever being taken seriously in my book as progressive rockers. And FYI, Dream Theater is not in my opinion prog-rock/metal, but rather a group of show-offs masturbating on CD.

ATDI, so that you know what I'm talking about:

I'll "aquire" an album of PTH anyway for closer review, I might well be wrong.

No doubt. Thank god i taught my girlfriend the merits of headphones.

The first song wasn't bad until the lead singer cut off his balls at 3:43. After that i couldn't listen to anymore. The second song didn't do it for me either.

I can think of several bands that the first song sounds similar to and i either dislike or prefer them to PTH. Almost a winner, but just not there for my tastes.
