are you sure it doesn't say patch 1.1, cause thats the right patch, if it says 1.01 then i must have put the wrong link

how big is the one you got, it might have just been a bad download. It should be 175.4 MB

wow that sucks, mine worked first time from that link i posted, so i can't see why both the one i posted and the other one you tried wont work.
You might want to try FilePlanet.com. They have the patch. I downloaded and installed the whole thing on my lunch break. About 45 min total, including the wait time... I have a free account there.
They also have a detailed listing of everything that changed in the game.
