OK here the thing, I got everything to work all the patches updated drivers for my vid card. And now when I'm DL to the map for BF2 I get up to 62% and then kick right back to the desk top. Just wondering what that could be or do I have to reinstall the dam game again.
DL to the map? Perhaps you could be a tad more informative?
after you join into the server and you have to wait a bit to get into the map thats what i mean by DLing the map. Just when it get to 62% of the downloading and then it jumps back to the desk top and i have to stat BF2 again.
1. It's not downloading the map, it's just plain loading it off your Harddrive.Jaime wrote:

2. What you're experiencing is a Crash to desktop while loading
Try googling something along the lines of "BF2 CTD while loading"
That should get you a bunch of things to check,
How much Ram do you have, what is your system Hardware configuration, we can;t really help you much here without knowing about your specific computer's configuration.
At first glance, it could be that you don;t have enough RAM to load the whole map in.

Use to play BF2 on this computer before it crash a while back I upgrade a bit of stuff and now can't play it. I had 1 gig of memory and was running a Radeon 9800se 128 bit at 256MB and it ran just great. I just had a G-force 5800FX ultra video card in but it was unable to support COD4 or BF2.

Kay, so you don't have like 128MB of RAM and trying to pleh BF2 (I've known stupider people)
Did you properly install and patch BF2, there's a special order to do it in depending on what Boosters/Expansions you have.

I'm also getting CTD, but immediately when joining a server. I double-click a server to join and it just crashes. Yes, I checked that sticky thread and did the solution it recommended (re-enter CD key and re-patch) and it still didn't work. Anyone have any suggestions?
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
ATi Radeon HD 3850 1GB
4 GB DDR2 RAM
Oh and I'm on Vista.
It's really frustrating because everything was working perfectly fine until the other day. I didn't change anything in my computer or in my settings. So I don't know what it could be. I suppose I could re-install, but I'm hoping I won't have to.
