Georgia doesn't differentiate between types of sex offenders. I saw something about this on 20/20 - people are put on sex offender registries for silly reasons. Those young kids who faced legal trouble for butt slapping at their school, I believe, possibly faced being put on a sex offender registry. Even if a 20 year old has sex with a 16 year old because she didn't know her age when they met at a party and had sex, that doesn't mean they'll go around raping children.
How 'bout they go after real pedofiles and rapists? Did you know that it's actually illegal for teenagers to have sex? This means any overzealous prosecutor or angry parent can put an innocent teenage (usually boy) on a sex offender registry.
