I've been tossing this idea around. Should I create a new account when the patch is released? Sort of a fresh start with a new game, as it clearly will be different than when it was first released in June. What do you think?

- Create a new BF2 account when the patch is released?
You really want to throw away 114 hours of hard earned rankage?
Hmmm, interesting idea. I might be tempted by the idea of a fresh start, but I like my character that I have created on BF2. He's done well, , jeez i talk likes its an RPG or something. To be honest what I have earned and done on the game is me, I wouldnt want to delete it unless they made us start again. can you imagine how the top ranking players would feel lol
Well, first off, I don't view my stats as anything "spetactular" with only 8,400 points. Secondly, with the experience I now have, a new account would certainly rise in the ranks even more quickly than I did before. It might be worth it? Still contemplating...
And as Faith+1 says below, it would be a breeze going through the ranks again. More enjoyable too if the patch does all it says. And simply the game being like a new game again, especially with the new Wake Island map. Can't wait to try that out!
Additionally, I think I'd challenge anyone with 50,000+ points to start over just to see how good this patch is. If it truly is harder for everyone to gain points as they have in the past 3 months.

I am actually thinking about it too. I was kicking around the idea as soon as I get Corporal but with the new ranking system I would get to enjoy the potential ease of ranking? I dunno we will see.
No way I'm gonna "throw away" my points, medals, pistol & knife & explosive kills and stuff.
Although I would like to change my name, but I guess I'll figure up something neat with the new 6-character prefix thingy
PistolGuruz
Knife-Guruz
C4-Guruz
Guruz!! (if possible, lol.)

I wouldn't start all over again as we say in Sweden "För allt smör i Småland"
You wont "Throw them away" per se,Guruz wrote:

You will just see how well or bad EA fixed the ranking system.
I also think that the armored service ribbon is crap - I sat in a apc killing about 40-50 people before I got it. I swear it was longer than 30 mins too.
I was thinking about doing a new account just for the sole purpose of the War College ribbon. Since this one is a pain in the butt to get with a 3:1 win ratio.
I've invested too much time and money (beer+chips) in this game to let my hard earned rank+points go to waste.
I thought about it too, and I've already made a plain "afrojap" account to go with the new prefix system.
Depends on how the medals and stuff get changed. If the war college ribbon becomes more accessible, I'll keep my old account. If the 3:1 W/L ratio remains, I might start playing the new account.
It seems likes the new ranking system will make it a hell of a lot easier to reach your old rank anyway.. :\

I know I'll never get it (if they keep the reqs the same), and I'll probably never get the aircraft badge (unless it too has it's reqs changed).
... but do I care? heeeeeeeeell no, caus all's I need is a bag full o' C4 and a cool hat to have fun in the new patch. I cant wait to get points for blowin' shit up.
I've also got a 'non-clan-tagged' nick ready just in case the system really is so buggered that I have to append other clan tags ON TOP of the one I used when I first regged for the game.
Damn straight, can't roll with out muh BF2 bling. But you sir, can't be going around callin people medal whores. I saw your post..beeng wrote:

haha
It's okay though, there's always a little medal whore within us all.
Look at my score and tell me what you think I will do.
Hey, I was only pissed about those because I already -earned- them, and I didn't want to wait the month or two again before I get a chance to kill that many people in one round.tF-afrojap wrote:

Are You Crazy?!
I want to play as Commander, and that would not be possible if I started a new account... not for a long while anyway.
lol ... I try not to become too hooked on the stats, but I am proud of my ribbons. Got them the hard way.

No.
Well, think about it this way. How fun would the game be if everyone has every medal, unlock, rank possible. You'd have nothing to reach for. I suppose the few that were really in it for the fun would still have fun. But that number seems ever so small.
Maybe just go with a new account for a little while to make sure nothing gets lost with this patch. I'd hate to lose everything because it blows up! Then have to wait for another patch for the patch and the whole thing starts over again anyway. Who knows...
