I use to play Battlefield 2 a lot, until my system 32 somehow was corrupted a few days ago. I had to completely recover windows XP thereby erasing all the programs and information I had. Now when I try to reinstall Battlefield 2 Delux, it seems to always get stuck on a single portion:
"C:\...\Battefield 2\mods\xpack\Levels\Mass_Destruction\client.zip". Everytime it hits this on disk four, it stops on it for an extremely long time, which is then followed by a "Battlefield 2 failed to install, please try again from the beginning". Has anyone else encountered this before? Does anyone know how to stop this from happening or what's going on?

Thanks, Pab

Battlefield 2 Delux is not an official variant of Bf2.

Because of this, I'm going to assume you got a pirated copy,

The file that it gets stuck on is the map files for some form of Mod that's included with said hacked version.

my suggestion would be to purchase a true, fully legal, licensed copy of BF2 and download the Mod's that you would like.

Hi and welcome to BF2S. Use an imaging software to image disk 4, like alcohol120 or similar. Then use that image instead of the 4th disc.

Actually lilp, it is http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/1060473 … oduct.html

Battlefield 2 Delue is the Legal, licensed, and official version of Bf2. It was the package that came with Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2 Special Forces.
It came with 5 disks. I don't know why it gets stuck =X.

So should this fix the part that it continuously gets caught on? Let me go try it out later.

Thanks guys.

If you used those same CDs to install before AND you had a corrupted system file, it's likely erroring on that same spot because of a bad sector on your drive, rather than a problem with the CD.

Since you had to recover a corrupted version of XP, I'd suggest the following:
Backup all of your files/music/settings to CD or another computer.
Run ChkDsk and tell it to fix file system errors and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
Consider getting a new HDD.
Reinstall XP.
Reinstall BF2.
