At some point in the night I woke to find that I'd rolled on my side and now was facing the mattress from the edge of the pillow.  Moving the other way, I used my legs first then my arms to move me to center.

And then I realised my left arm wasn't doing a whole lot.  No big deal, I'd just tell it to move a little harder...nuh uh.

At that point, I gave up and used my right arm to pull around the left, and flung it.  Something hit me in the face (my arm) and then I realised - there was no motion or sensory response from it (not even raising a finger), and this extended all the way to the shoulder.  Thus I could not get my left hand off my face without the other hand.

At that point I was wide awake and something between

and

Sat up, noticed hand looked a little purple (turned out in the morning that both my hands have a slightly purple tinge to them sometimes ), and in early morning daze tried to get some response from it.

Eventually I drove my fingernail hard into it and felt some pain, which was good.

However, it really put things into perspective.  What if you woke up one day and all your limbs were just lumps of meat and bone without any use?

My brother had that once - lost all feeling for a few seconds and he was concerned as hell (obviously). I've never had it though, it doesn't sound like an enjoyable experience!

I've woken up not to be able to do anything at all. It felt like someone/thing was ontop of me keeping me down, so much to the point where I was trying to push them off (but I couldn't) and then eventually being able to move, and swinging my arm/body around and saying "fuck off" even though nobody is actually there. I remember making a topic about it.

Apparently it's where your mind wakes up but your body hasn't, well that was the reason for mines

It used to happen quite frequently to me, hasn't happened in awhile now though

Yeah, I get that too from time to time. It's pretty damn disturbing when you hit yourself with it.

That also happens if you put pressure on the arm for too long..the afterfeeling of pins and needles.

Too much masturbating by the sounds of it. But you've probably just slept on top of your arm.

I've had it happen to my legs, which is not good being on the top of a bunk bed (i have it to myself and just prefer the top). You swing your legs over and when you land they collapse and you topple over. lol

Basically you cut off the majority of the blood supply while you were sleeping, in effect giving yourself a dead arm.

Already had something like that twice...one time it was with an arm when i woke up...fucked up shit but at the same time.

And the other time was while i was running...one of my leg decided all by himself to stop doing what its suposed to, suport my weight....Result...yup! Face on the ground.

Now i think back, I had a similar situation about 4 years ago, parents woke me up and put some tea on my table, tried to move my arm to pick up the mug and it just wouldnt move.

You slept on your arm and cut off the circulation, no biggie, happens to me all the time, it's rather fun to fling it around because the circulation always resumes anyway. The weird thing is though that when that happens, in my dreams my arm has a dull pain, that usually signifies to me that I'm sleeping on my arm.

I love when that happens. I always try to use all my power to lift it up, and then, I dunno, enjoy seeing it erect. My arm, you perv!
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

yes that compares to someone with zero use of their limbs.

This has happened to me many times.

Just a severe case of 'pins and needles' as we say here in the UK- constricted blood flow due to applied pressure, namely the lumbering hulk of a sleeping torso . It was quite scary the first time, yet luckily it fades rather quickly once you alleviate the pressure!

Also, the phenomenon of sleep paralysis is quite terrifying. I think I vaguely recall your topic too Mek.

I get that some times. I'm half asleep and I can't move anything. No matter how hard I try to move my arms and legs, nothing happens.

Never mind reading the last sentence, because it's really quite irrelevant.

I couldn't help but think of when Tyra Banks wore a shitty looking fat suit around for a day, then when on TV crying about how she completely understood...

I have had this once or twice before... I had apparently slipped my arm under my pillow during the night and it fell asleep... really really asleep.

It was weird cause even rolling over on your side or something you think doesn't really involve your arm still requires your shoulder/arm muscles to shift your weight.

Sleep paralysis, there's nothing wrong with you.
