How many push-ups can you do in a row? I'm always mystified when I read about guys doing like 1000 consecutive push ups in the Guinness book of records. I can do about 100 before needing a break.
Probably around 100 also
The first 40 I can get done in less than a minute though.

1000? yikes
Last time I tried I did 50 and my arms started to get pretty sore (was going for 50 in <2 minutes)

I can do about 20.
But that's the very limit.
My dad said he could do 60 in a minute when he was my age

I'd be the same as that. 1 to 60 is a walk in the park but from 60 upwards my arms start to burn. How do these freaks do 1000???naightknifar wrote:

Record is 24-ish, average is 18. I do situps way better, I've done 32 in a minute and average around 22.
That being said, I haven't done them in a while. I should start again, though.

well maxxed Id say 200... doing 100 every evening since three years or what... without any proper fat arms though
I guess doing them every single night is the only way to get up in the high numbers. I do a proper session of push-ups every second workout (the other workout being free weights and bench presses) and I take a day off between each workout day.Slayer wrote:

I've never pushed past 75, no reason to.
I used to be doing 10 an evening (lame I know), but now I add one every night. Am currently on 37
thats a good way to do it ................... you're not pushing your muscles to pure exhaustion, you build them up slowlyShadowsStrike wrote:

I know it takes longer but the benefits are well worth the wait
I luv using these :
and recently got hooked on using these :
they are built to turn with your body
I also like to do the first hundred with my feet on the stairs so they are flush with my back in the up postion
I never bothered to buy those, but I did rig some dumbbells to twist as I go down and back up. Nearly the same, and I can dip down just a bit further than doing them on the bare ground.SEREMAKER wrote:

I used to have days where I'd do fuck all but work out continually.
And through that whole day I'd probably have like 5 hours break and 10 hours exercise.
Musta' done an average of 1500ish press ups on days like that. Whenever you had a break of doing something (sipping a drink, or whilst eating you'd be doing 30 odd)
That were the days Pre-Selection. Now I can't be fucked and I start basic on September 7th.
Luckily for me From this Monday for a month I'm doing a preparation course
I have those, they are really good...you can't really 'cheat' any push ups when you're using them things.SEREMAKER wrote:

I'd kinda like to see some of these folks who are seriously claiming >100. I know most of you aren't pro athletes or whatnot and just sit around all day drinking beer in your underpants.
