- Am I the only one concerned over the UAE buying US ports?

If you want to read the whole story, it's right here.The deal raises red flags for some critics because some of the money that funded the September 11, 2001, terror attacks on New York and Washington was funneled through Dubai, which is a major Persian Gulf banking center, and two of the hijackers were from the UAE.
Dubai also was a midway point for the illegal sale of nuclear technology to North Korea, Iran and Libya by Pakistani scientist A.Q. Khan, and the UAE was one of three countries that recognized the Taliban as Afghanistan's legitimate rulers.

As far as having a military base there, I could care less. We have one in Cuba, but that doesn't mean I want Castro having such access to our ports.

You have to remember that its the companies that will run it, companies arn't really supposed to have a fixed nationality (unless it means marketing benefits;)), you shouldn't be bothered by the UAE leasing the ports, and if you look at it from a business perspective the UAE will probably be reliable and trustable because they will probably think like this:
"we can mess the US around and cause a bit of fuss, but so what we annoy some people loose a lot of money and the Americans will just take the ports off us, or we can be reliable and trustable and make a huge amount of cash"
