Looks like Sam Hornish is doing the best of the open wheel refugees.
Mark Martin for 1 year in the 5 car then Tony to the 5 car?
Mark Martin for 1 year in the 5 car then Tony to the 5 car?
Agreed Sam is going a bit better than the rest...but tbh, out of all the open-wheel guys that showed up this year. Dario Franchitti was my favorite, I really wanted to see him have some success here. Given enough time (not likely) he will ( or would have).DSRTurtle wrote:

I hate it for him really. But this is our sport today, time is a luxury not given to many, nor can be afforded by teams due to sponsor commitments etc etc.
The money for performance NOW game.
Mark in the 5 for 1 year? I dunno, if he can find some success in the 5, he may not be so ready to move on, or finally retire. He may hop into a HMS car and run rampant with it next season. Time will tell.
Tony (from what I can tell) wants ownerdhip of his next team. I dont see HMS doing that. Tony needs a team like Hass CNC, or something like that to take over, revitalize, and finally put a good accomplished driver in the seat.
Tony is the big unknown in this equation, he has 1 more year left on his contract at JGR. and any other offer would require him to get out of that. I dont think at his juncture that simply sliding to another team is what he wants.
Then what about the rocket man...Ryan Newman? Will he stay at PRS, or will he seek another ride?
Silly season is in full swing gents, cant wait to see how it plays out.
Why not? Gordon is part owner of the 48. Stranger things have happened.TC.Troy wrote:

The 48 still falls under the Hendrick banner. I'm not clear on if "partial" ownership would be enough for Tony. Hopefully, we'll know soon.
And yes hehe stranger things have happened...cant deny that

Mark Martin to drive the #5 full time next season
http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlin … index.html
I was pretty positive he would would be driving next season, but wasn't to sure if he would do it full time. I bet the fact that his son has given up on racing had a lot to do with it.

Quite a team - I really hope he clinches Daytona in 09, if anyone deserves it - it's him!Strngs012 wrote:

Mark going to Hendrick is a bad thing for the rest of the teams.
What a group Mr. Hendrick has now...I mean wow...how much money does he pay in salaries

The 15 on pole for saturday??? sheesh plate racing is sooo fickle.

How many references do you think they made to the R07/SB2 situation? hehe
I found that funny as well.
