ok, so i went to see my favorite artist friday night.
it was at a real tiny venue in stl called Off Broadway. before the show, we had a couple drinks and talked for a bit. he is honestly, one of the nicest people i have ever met. and im not just talking musicians, i mean out of EVERYONE i have met.
he is really down to earth, and when he isnt touring, hes working his farm in Iowa.
show time comes and i make my way towards the front of the stage. he is jamming out man...i mean, i have NEVER seen someone do the things he was doing to a banjo. he sings this song, "Raise My Jug"....at the end of it, i held up my beer and my whisky....as sort of a salute.
he sees this, holds his whisky up and downs it.....im standing there getting ready for the next song, and sure as shit, this dude starts in with:
"I want to thank Derek Parker for this hand made knife.", as hes pulling it out of his pocket....he goes on to say that the most cherished things in life are the things that are made by hand. he takes the knife, and sticks it dead in the stage.
at that point, with my girl next to me, life couldnt have been better. a grin from ear to fucking ear.....i mean it.
anyway, heres a picture of us after the show.....im *slightly* hammered by this point
his website, if anyone is interested:

"Skratta då, det var roligt! *waves his knife wildly*"
And the more nuanced image of Finland was awesome as well. When all hell breaks loose "Det här är bra TV"
I didn't get the joke the first Drunk Fin was telling though, what exactly was it?
Edit: to the person who karmad me, I study Swedish as well as English at university but I'm only in my first year. That's why I got the general gist of the video but didn't catch all the details
